Choose the right lure and spot
- For bass: use the Bass Popper.
- For sturgeon: use the Hybrid Sturgeon lure.
- For record-weight fishing: look for locations marked Hard. These are relevant to record attempts and the associated rod and challenge progression.
Gameranx’s 2018 guide reports the following in-game challenge record weights: largemouth bass, 8 lb; smallmouth bass, 6 lb; rock bass, 3 lb; pallid sturgeon, 55 lb; and paddlefish sturgeon, 112 lb. These are game challenge figures, not real-world fish weights.
