Candleberries grow on evergreen bushes with bright red fruit. Look for them around smaller structures, rocky areas and other foliage, and only when Cold Snap is active on an outdoor map. Embark Studios’ February 10, 2026 patch notes confirmed that Candleberries stayed collectable after the Flickering Flames event ended, as long as Cold Snap was running. The most recent official update covered here, the October 8, 2026 Frozen Trail 2.0 notes, does not say whether Cold Snap or Candleberries are in rotation now, so check the map-condition selection before you plan a run.
Check whether Cold Snap is active before you search
Candleberries are tied to the Cold Snap map condition. Start there, because a run without Cold Snap is unlikely to produce them.

- Open the map-condition selection before you deploy and confirm that Cold Snap is listed as active.
- Pick an outdoor map. Embark’s February 2026 patch notes say Cold Snap returned to outdoor maps, and that is where the bushes were confirmed.
- If Cold Snap is not active, choose a different objective. Do not expect Candleberries on that run.
What a Candleberry bush looks like
Embark’s developer tips, published as “Cold Snap – tips and tricks from the devs” on December 20, 2025, describe the plant directly. Game Designer Andreea Dragoman wrote: “The Candleberry bush is evergreen and bears bright red fruits.” The bright red fruit is the visual cue to scan for. Because the bush is evergreen, it stays green through the winter setting, so look for the red berries rather than a leafless shrub.

World and Level Designer Marika Ohlsson gave the main placement guidance in the same developer tips: “The bushes can usually be found around smaller structures, in addition to around rocky areas and other foliage.” Treat these as habitat cues rather than fixed coordinates. The developer guidance does not give exact map pins.

Smaller structures
Check the edges of small buildings and shelters first. Bushes near them are the most consistent cue in the developer guidance.
Rocky areas
Scan outcrops and rough ground where vegetation grows between stones. These spots are named directly in the developer tips.
Other foliage
Look near other plant cover, since Candleberries are described as sitting among general vegetation rather than in one biome-specific patch.

Historical map details to treat with caution
GameSpot’s guide “Where To Find Candleberries In Arc Raiders And All Flickering Flames Items,” published December 16, 2025, reported that Candleberries appeared only during Cold Snap, in Nature regions, on maps other than Stella Montis. That is dated secondary reporting. Map availability and conditions have changed since then, and Embark’s February 2026 notes describe the condition returning to outdoor maps. Use the GameSpot details as a starting point, then confirm the map in-game.

Candleberries were part of a seasonal event before they became a Cold Snap resource. The table below separates event availability from later availability.

GameSpot’s 2025 guide also reported a total of 180 Candleberries — GameSpot, 2025 on the Flickering Flames reward track. That is an event-specific total from 2025, not a current figure for the Cold Snap condition.

What the official sources do not establish
Embark has not published bush density, average Candleberries per run, or spawn probability in the sources covered here. Any estimate of how many bushes a map holds or how many berries a run will yield would be a guess, so this guide does not offer one. Use the habitat cues above as a search method, not as a guarantee of finds.
