Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

The most practical places to find it are the two Ironworks outposts in Vermillius Gap, followed by Testing Station 10 in Eastern Vermillius Gap. Deep Desert buried testing stations can also contain it, but those sites change on a weekly schedule.
Where Complex Machinery spawns
The community-maintained Dune: Awakening Community Wiki lists three fixed or semi-fixed locations for Complex Machinery, plus a rotating Deep Desert option. The table below compares them by region, access requirements and whether the site is fixed or rotates.
| Location | Region | Access and conditions | Fixed or rotating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Northwest Ironworks | Northwest Western Vermillius Gap, northwest of the Wreck of the Pallas | Hostile Kirab are reported at the site. The factory entrance is locked and needs the ID band found down the stairs from its door. | Fixed |
| Southeast Ironworks | Near Hagga Basin South, on the south side of Eastern Vermillius Gap | Hostile Kirab are reported at the site. The factory entrance is locked and needs the ID band found down the stairs from its door. | Fixed |
| Testing Station 10 | Eastern Vermillius Gap | Approach from the north. Blue and Purple identification bands are listed for the station. House deserters occupy it. | Fixed |
| Botany Resort | Deep Desert | PvP area. Bring a Cutteray for the barricaded doors and clear its three rooms. Only available when it is part of that week’s buried-station set. | Rotates weekly after the Corialis storm reset |
If you are still progressing through Hagga Basin, start with the Ironworks. The wiki describes Southeast Ironworks as a likely early source, but that is a qualitative description rather than measured data.
Looting the Ironworks factory
Both Ironworks follow the same layout: lootable machines sit in an upper area, and more are inside a lower factory area that is sealed by a locked door.

- Boxed Game
- Clear the upper area of the outpost and search the machines there for Complex Machinery. Hostile Kirab are reported in this area.
- Find the locked factory door.
- Follow the stairs down from that door to locate the ID band. The wiki places it in this spot at both outposts.
- Use the ID band to enter the factory, then search the lower machines.
The wiki does not list a fixed number of machines or pieces per visit, so expect the yield to vary.
Testing Station 10 in Eastern Vermillius Gap
Testing Station 10 is the third fixed-location option. Approach it from the north. The wiki lists Blue and Purple identification bands for the station, so check your band before you commit to the approach. House deserters occupy the station, so expect armed opposition on arrival.

Deep Desert buried stations
Complex Machinery also appears in the buried testing stations of the Deep Desert. Botany Resort is the example the wiki cites. These stations do not stay the same from week to week. The buried-station set is randomized after each weekly Corialis storm reset, so Botany Resort may not be on the map at all. Check the current weekly Deep Desert layout in-game before planning a trip there. The area is PvP, so plan for other players as well as the environment.
Is there a best farming route?
There is no established answer. The wiki does not publish drop rates, per-visit yields, respawn timers or refresh intervals for any of these locations, so no route can be called the highest-yield farm on current evidence. The most useful comparisons are region and progression (Hagga Basin for the Ironworks, Eastern Vermillius Gap for Testing Station 10, the Deep Desert for buried stations), whether a site is fixed or rotating, and whether it is PvP.

What Complex Machinery is used for
Complex Machinery is an ingredient in many crafting recipes. The wiki’s item page lists 25 of them. Two examples are a Buggy Engine Mk4, which uses 15 Complex Machinery, and one Advanced Machinery, which uses three. These are recipe-reference figures from the wiki and not measured in testing.
The wiki describes the item as coming from older fabricators and refineries, and says it cannot be fabricated easily. That is why the locations above matter for crafting.
