The reference below organizes the reported fishing zones and gives sample fish entries, while clearly marking which details are community-reported or unverified. Check the in-game fish catalogue before treating an uncertain entry as confirmed.
How to use this fish-location guide
- Find the habitat first. Identify whether the fish is listed for a river, lake, ocean, Moonlit Forest water or deep-sea area.
- Match the conditions. Check season, weather, time and bait together; a location by itself does not establish that a fish will appear.
- Confirm uncertain entries in-game. Community-maintained tables can be incomplete or outdated, and the sources below do not constitute an official publisher database.
A guide checked against PC build 1.09.5664 on 2026-09-01 identifies habitat, season, weather, time and bait as the key filters. The linked guide is community-maintained, so use its entries as a lookup aid rather than a guarantee.
Reported fishing habitats and zones
Community guides describe the following broad areas. Exact zone names and unlock requirements are version-sensitive, and the available material does not establish them as official publisher documentation.
| Habitat or zone | What community guides report | Access note |
|---|---|---|
| River and Lake | Early freshwater fishing areas. | Described as early zones; exact access details are not established here. |
| Ocean | Saltwater area with fish entries such as Anchovy. | Community guides describe it as unlocked; confirm current prerequisites in-game. |
| Moonlit Forest waters | Includes reported locations such as Dreamfall Garden and Darkwater Shore. | Names and access requirements are community-reported. |
| Deep-sea areas | Reported zones include Luminwave, Celestewave and Coral Sea. | Some access may depend on progression or port reconstruction, according to community guides. |
A separate fishing guide also distinguishes lake, river, ocean, boat-only grounds and Moonlit Forest waters. It was last checked on 2026-08-19 and includes Early Access player reports, so confirm current access and mechanics in your game. Read that community guide.

Fish-location checklist: examples with incomplete verification
The public fish table includes habitat, season, time, weather and bait fields, but explicitly marks ordinary-fish data as unverified where information is incomplete. These examples are useful starting points, not a fully verified all-species list.
| Fish | Habitat / zone | Season | Time | Weather | Bait | Verification status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alaska Blackfish | Lake | Winter | 6:00–22:00 | Sunny | Bug Bait | Unverified ordinary-fish entry in a community table; confirm in the in-game catalogue. |
| Anchovy | Ocean | Spring | 12:00–24:00 | Rainy | Meat Bait | Unverified ordinary-fish entry in a community table; confirm in the in-game catalogue. |
The examples above are listed in a community fish reference whose entries are not uniformly verified. Consult the reference table for its current entries, then validate the result against the game.
Choosing a fishing tool for the task
A community guide distinguishes tools by purpose, not by species location. The tool you choose does not prove that a particular fish spawns in a zone.
- Rod: Reported as the choice for targeted catches and King fish.
- Net: Reported as useful for catching fish in bulk.
- Fed traps: Reported for overnight output.
The same community guide describes bug, veggie and meat bait as being chummed into the water to attract fish shadows, followed by casting and reeling. Its mechanics and tool advice should be checked against the current game build. See the guide checked against PC build 1.09.5664.

Why some fish listings may not match your game
Public references include Early Access player reports and are still being rechecked for version 1.0. A fish entry may therefore reflect an older build, a player observation rather than verified game data, or an incomplete table. The available sources do not establish a complete authoritative list of every species and condition.
Quick Recap
Rank #4
- Verify the target fish’s conditions in the in-game catalogue rather than relying on a location name alone.
- Recheck habitat, season, time, weather and bait if a reported spot does not produce the fish.
- Treat zone unlock sequences and rare-fish tips as provisional unless confirmed in your current version.
