Gold Veins were a Chapter 6 Season 2: LAWLESS mechanic in 2025. The directions below describe where players were pointed on that season’s island. Epic’s 2025 announcement and the location guides published that spring do not establish whether Gold Veins are still on Fortnite’s live map in October 2026, so treat this as historical guidance and check the current map before planning a route.
In short, search the west side of the island around the Lawless areas, especially Crime City and Shiny Shafts. Look near gold-infused rivers, roads and mountain foothills for dark gray boulders with gold chunks and sparkles, then strike them with your harvesting Pickaxe.
Where are Gold Veins in Fortnite?
The 2025 guides agree on the region but not on exact coordinates. GamesRadar+ describes the spots around Crime City as a general, non-exhaustive cluster rather than a list of fixed positions. Destructoid’s route follows the gold-infused rivers near Crime City and Shiny Shafts. Gameranx also names Outlaw Oasis and Lonewolf Lair among the Lawless points of interest where veins could be found.

Gold-infused rivers
Destructoid recommends following the gold-infused rivers near Crime City and Shiny Shafts. Follow the course of the river and check the rock along its banks rather than searching open ground.
Roads and mountain foothills
Gameranx reports that several veins can sit close together, particularly at the mountain base before you enter Crime City. When you find one, check the surrounding rock before moving on.
Outlaw Oasis and Lonewolf Lair
Gameranx lists these as additional Lawless points of interest where veins could be found. The guides do not give detailed routes to them, so treat them as secondary checks after the Crime City and river areas.

How to recognize a Gold Vein
- Base rock: a dark gray boulder.
- Gold chunks: gold material protruding from the rock surface.
- Sparkles: visible glints around the boulder.
- Non-interactive gold: other golden terrain around the mountains is not necessarily mineable, according to GamesRadar+. Check for the dark gray boulder with protruding chunks before you swing.
How to mine Gold Veins
- Equip your standard harvesting Pickaxe.
- Walk up to the dark gray boulder and strike it. Epic’s official description confirms the Pickaxe is the interaction tool.
- Keep hitting until the vein breaks. GamesRadar+ reports 250 HP per vein and a maximum of five hits.
- Collect the reward. Epic’s Chapter 6 Season 2 announcement, published February 21, 2025, states: “You can also gain Gold Rush by mining Gold Veins, which can be excavated with your Pickaxe for Bars.”
What a vein yields
Only the reward type is official. The other values come from guide observations and should not be treated as fixed game rules.

Historical Week 3 quest
During Chapter 6 Season 2, a Week 3 weekly quest asked players to mine five Gold Veins. Gameranx reported a reward of 30,000 XP and noted that the next weekly quests would go live March 18, 2025. The Fortnite Wiki lists the Week 3 Mine Gold Veins objective with a target of five and records May 2, 2025 as the end of Chapter 6 Season 2 weekly quests. The quest is closed, so do not plan around its reward.
