Which campaign has the hidden Chao?
Sonic X Shadow Generations contains two experiences: the remastered Sonic Generations and Shadow Generations. The hidden-in-every-level Chao feature belongs to the Sonic Generations campaign; it is not a list of collectibles in Shadow’s White Space. SEGA describes the Chao feature as part of Sonic Generations and advertises rescuing Chao hidden in every level on the official game page.

How to find Chao and track your progress
- Open the Collection Room. Check the in-game hints for the Chao you have not found. SEGA’s game manual identifies the Collection Room as the place to view location hints and your rescued-Chao list.
- Use a hint to choose a stage and search route. Chao are hidden in stages, so explore the stage areas indicated by the hint rather than searching Shadow’s hub area.
- Touch the Chao to rescue it. Finding it is not enough if you pass by without making contact.
- Return to the Collection Room and check the list. Confirm the rescue registered, then use the remaining hints to identify what is still missing.
Are all 54 Chao locations confirmed?
No verified stage-by-stage location list is available here. A video search-result title advertises “ALL 54” Chao locations, but the accessible page text does not provide its route descriptions, so the number and individual locations cannot be independently confirmed from that result. Treat 54 as an unverified guide claim, not an established total. The Collection Room’s hints and rescued list are the dependable in-game way to work through the collectibles.

SEGA’s launch notice lists PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and the Epic Games Store for Sonic X Shadow Generations (SEGA launch notice). This platform list does not verify current physical stock or specific physical editions. Regardless of platform, keep the Chao hunt in the Sonic Generations campaign.
