Farm Callous, Harbinger of Annihilating Death, at the end of the Craven’s Nook Order bunker in Bones of Sanctuary, east of Terminus Ridge. You must progress far enough in the campaign to leave Fadefields; at the bunker entrance, use the bio canister near the door to get inside. The Hot Slugger is not a guaranteed drop, so expect to repeat the boss fight.
How to reach Callous at Craven’s Nook
- Unlock Bones of Sanctuary. Continue the main campaign until you can leave Fadefields.
- Travel to Craven’s Nook. The Order bunker is in Bones of Sanctuary, east of Terminus Ridge.
- Open the bunker. At the sealed entrance, look over the ledge on the left for a bio canister, then throw it at the door.
- Reach the boss. Fight through the bunker to its end and defeat Callous, Harbinger of Annihilating Death.
- Repeat the encounter. Return to the boss and keep farming until the Hot Slugger drops. A Mobalytics guide also describes using a nearby vent mechanism and says grapples can help you move past enemies; treat that as route advice, not a guarantee that every run will work the same way.

Lootlemon’s community-maintained item page, updated October 6, 2026, lists these chances for the Hot Slugger. These are database figures, not an official Gearbox-confirmed drop table or independently tested rates; individual runs can be luckier or worse than the listed odds suggest.

What the Hot Slugger does
The Hot Slugger is a legendary, kinetic Jakobs shotgun in the Borderlands 4 base game. Lootlemon lists fixed parts and no firmware or splash anointments. Its unique effect, Blazing Barrel, grants +30% damage for 10 seconds when you get a kill, stacking up to three times. At maximum stacks, that effect totals +90% damage.
That makes the weapon’s listed bonus dependent on chaining kills and keeping the stacks active. The cited references do not provide controlled comparisons against other shotguns, so the effect alone does not establish that it is best for every build or boss fight.
