Its pods sit at the base of the plant, and a Tier 2 Omni-Axe is what turns those pods into Milkweed Tufts. The Grounded Wiki’s item page points to a large milkweed patch along the border between the Snackbar Front Area and the Picnic Table Area as the clearest starting point, and it lists several other areas where tufts can be gathered.
How to recognize milkweed
Look for the tall plants with purple flower heads and large leaves. The pods you need grow at the base of these plants, so you will need to approach the plant itself rather than only looking at its upper growth.
Where to find milkweed
The Grounded Wiki’s Milkweed Pod item page describes a large milkweed patch along the border between the Snackbar Front Area and the Picnic Table Area. This is the location the page highlights most directly, so it is the best place to begin if you want to collect several pods in one trip.
The same wiki lists these additional areas as Milkweed Tuft locations:

- Croquet Court
- Entrance Area
- Greenhouse Surroundings
- Ice Cream Cart Surroundings
- Pumpkin Patch
- Snackbar Front Area
- Veggie Garden
The wiki’s resource index gives the same list. Both are community-maintained pages rather than official developer location maps, so treat them as a guide to where to look rather than a guaranteed checklist.
How to harvest tufts
Harvesting is a two-part process: you collect pods, then you use the Omni-Axe on them to get tufts.
Rank #2
- Craft or obtain a Tier 2 Omni-Axe. Harvesting pods for tufts requires this tool; the wiki does not list a lower tier that works.
- Walk to a milkweed plant and find the pods at its base.
- Use the Tier 2 Omni-Axe on the pods to harvest Milkweed Tufts.
- Repeat at other plants in the patch or in the other listed areas as needed for your crafting goal.
The sources do not state how many tufts a single pod yields, how quickly pods regrow after harvesting, or whether a patch can be stripped of its pods in one visit.
What tufts are used for
Milkweed Tufts appear in the wiki’s recipe data in several places, which is useful to know before you decide how many to gather:

- Scorpion Bed: listed on the wiki’s tuft page as a related entry, though the sources do not describe how tufts figure into it.
What the sources do not confirm
The location information comes from community-maintained Grounded Wiki pages. No official developer map, exact coordinates, plant counts, or respawn timing were found, so the lists above describe where the wiki reports milkweed rather than a verified inventory of every plant in the game. If a patch has changed the world layout or the tool requirements, the in-game results will take precedence over this guide.
The available evidence also does not compare the yield or travel efficiency of the Snackbar Front Area and Picnic Table Area patch against the other listed areas. If you are planning a route, the highlighted patch is the most concrete option, and the remaining areas are useful as alternatives when you need more pods or are already nearby.
