Silk is the armor crafting material in Black Myth: Wukong, and it is scarce in Chapter 1. The most dependable early sources are the shrine shop at Ancient Guanyin Temple, which sits behind a secret area you open by ringing three bells, and the rewards for finishing Chapter 1 and its bosses. Chapter 2 makes Silk easier to collect, including a repeatable farming loop near Windrest Hamlet. The figures below come from third-party guides published in 2024 and 2025, not from an official item database, so check what the shops and enemies actually show in your version of the game.
Chapter 1: where Silk is limited
Gameranx (September 6, 2024) describes Chapter 1 Silk as limited and points to main and optional boss drops along with shrine purchases. Its advice is to check each shrine’s shop rather than assume every shrine stocks the same goods, because inventories vary.

Ancient Guanyin Temple shrine
To reach the temple, ring the three bells scattered through Chapter 1. Gamepressure (updated August 22, 2024) names the bell-guarding bosses as Guangzhi, Guangmou, and Whiteclad Noble. Ringing the third bell transports you to Ancient Guanyin Temple, where you meet Elder Jinchi. Gamepressure reports that the temple shrine sells two Silk. Gameranx instead lists two purchasable Silk at each relevant shrine plus an additional two at the temple, so the quantity you see on your visit may differ from either account.
Chapter 1 completion and boss rewards
Gamepressure also reports two Silk as an automatic reward for completing Chapter 1. Boss rewards are the other route the guides consistently name for this chapter. None of the guides breaks down Silk quantities per boss, so treat boss drops as a source to check rather than a fixed count.

Chests and ordinary enemies: the guides disagree
Gamer Guides (guide information updated March 12, 2025) says Silk can appear in chests, including in the secret area, and can be a rare drop from tougher Chapter 1 enemies. Gameranx says enemy drops begin in Chapter 2. Until you see Silk drop from a Chapter 1 enemy yourself, do not plan a Chapter 1 run around regular enemies. Prioritize the temple shop, boss rewards, and any chests you find while exploring.

Chapter 2: a repeatable farming loop
All three guides describe Silk as more plentiful in Chapter 2. Gameranx gives a concrete loop at Windrest Hamlet in Yellow Wind Formation:

- Walk to the shrine on the bridge that leads into the village.
- Defeat the shield-wielding enemy beside it. Gameranx identifies this enemy as a Silk drop, while describing other enemies in the area as less certain.
- Rest at the shrine to reset nearby enemies.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have the amount you need.
Gamepressure says resting at shrines respawns defeated enemies, which is what makes the loop possible, and that certain Chapter 2 enemies and bosses drop Silk. Its wording is limited to those specific enemies, so do not assume every Chapter 2 enemy is a reliable source.

How far to trust these routes
- None of the guides cites an official drop table or a developer statement, so exact drop rates are not established.
- The guides were published in 2024 and 2025. Later updates may change shop stock, drop behavior, or enemy placement, so if what you see in-game differs, trust the game over the guide.
- Silk counts such as two per shrine or two per chapter completion are as reported by these guides and were not verified across every game version or platform.
