The monk most players mean when they search for the monk in New Thunderclap Temple is Non-Void, the target of the Snow Fox side quest. You reach his temple from the Temple Entrance shrine: pass through the first temple, go up and down a set of stairs into a building, climb to its upper floor, and cross a bridge. You must be in fox form when you enter, which you get by using the Snow Fox Brush from your inventory.
Before you start: the quest requirements
The route below assumes you already have the Snow Fox Brush. If you do not, start the quest first:

- Get the Snow Fox Brush. Go to the Forest of Felicity shrine in the Valley of Ecstasy and speak with the corpse by the gate until the fox spirit appears. The PowerPyx Fox Questline Walkthrough says this step gives the Snow Fox Brush.
- Know where the temple is. New Thunderclap Temple is in Chapter 3, in the New West area. The Temple Entrance is reached after passing Captain Kalpa-Wave’s gate.
Route to Non-Void
PowerPyx’s walkthrough and GAMERPILLAR’s Fox Quest Guide describe the same route independently, so the steps below are consistent across both. Follow them in order:
- Travel to New Thunderclap Temple and select the Temple Entrance shrine.
- Walk straight through the first temple and exit at the back.
- Climb the stairs on the left, turn right, then take the stairs descending on the left into a building.
- Go up the stairs inside that building and cross the bridge to the monk’s temple.
- Before you step into the temple, open your inventory and use the Snow Fox Brush to change into fox form. The walkthroughs say this is what starts the cutscene with the monk.
- Defeat Non-Void. He drops the Non-Void spirit.
After the fight: collecting the reward
Return to the Forest of Felicity quest giver to claim the Snow Fox Brush Curios reward described in the walkthroughs. The Non-Void spirit is the immediate reward from the fight; the Curios reward is only given back at the quest giver.

Troubleshooting
- The cutscene does not start. You most likely crossed the bridge in human form. Leave the temple area, use the Snow Fox Brush, and walk back to the entrance before going in.
- You cannot find the Temple Entrance shrine. Confirm you are in Chapter 3 and in the New West area. The shrine is only available once you have reached New Thunderclap Temple.
- The fight you find is not Non-Void. You are probably at the Monk from the Sea encounter, described below.
Non-Void versus Monk from the Sea
Players often confuse Non-Void with Monk from the Sea, which is a separate optional Yaoguai Chief also listed at the Temple Entrance. Game8’s Monk From The Sea guide describes a different approach to that boss, so do not follow the Non-Void route when you are looking for Monk from the Sea.

If you are not sure which monk you are looking for, check the quest log: a Snow Fox quest entry points to Non-Void, while Monk from the Sea is an optional boss with no quest attached.
