The Yan Horn mount and the Mini Yan minion both come from Vault Oneiron, the treasure instance added in Patch 7.3 of Final Fantasy XIV’s Dawntrail expansion. You reach it through Gargantuaskin Treasure Maps, which are exclusive to Living Memory. Neither item has a published drop rate, so expect repeated runs with no guaranteed reward.

How to reach Vault Oneiron

  1. Get a Gargantuaskin Treasure Map from Living Memory. SQUARE ENIX’s Patch 7.3 notes state that only Gargantuaskin Treasure Maps grant entry to Vault Oneiron. Other newly adjusted map rewards do not open this dungeon access.
  2. Open the treasure coffer, then enter the instance. The patch notes describe Vault Oneiron as accessed after finding and opening treasure coffers obtained from Gargantuaskin maps. Enter through the portal that appears once the coffer is opened.
  3. Run Vault Oneiron for its reward opportunities. The patch notes list both the Yan Horn and Mini Yan among the new items, and secondary guides such as Thonky and Game8 associate both with Vault Oneiron rewards.

Yan Horn and Mini Yan at a glance

Item What it gives you Where it is listed Published drop rate
Yan Horn Mount, summoned with the item Patch 7.3 notes (new items); secondary guides link it to Vault Oneiron Not stated in the Patch 7.3 notes or the secondary guides checked
Mini Yan Minion, summoned with the item Patch 7.3 notes (minion item); secondary guides list it as a possible Vault Oneiron reward Not stated in the Patch 7.3 notes or the secondary guides checked

Both items share the same access route, so a single session of Gargantuaskin-map content can target either or both. The practical choice is which collectible you want and how much unquantified chance-based reward time you are willing to spend on it.

Pursuing the Yan mount

The Yan Horn is the item that summons the Yan mount. Patch 7.3 describes the mount in these terms: “Summon forth your yan, a sheep spirit whose disarmingly adorable appearance belies its tremendous might.” Because the notes list the Yan Horn as a reward item rather than a purchase, treat Vault Oneiron as the route and expect the item to drop only through runs of the instance.

Pursuing Mini Yan

Mini Yan follows the same route as the mount. The patch notes describe it as “a sheep spirit whose child-pleasing form and diminutive size belie its might.” It is a minion rather than a mount, so it does not change your riding options, and it has no separate acquisition path in the sources reviewed.

What is not established

  • No drop percentage or expected number of runs appears in SQUARE ENIX’s Patch 7.3 notes or in the secondary guides reviewed. Plan for an open-ended search rather than a fixed count.
  • The official Dawntrail product page lists different account-wide bonus items and does not list Yan or Mini Yan as expansion purchase bonuses. Buying the expansion should not be assumed to award either item.
  • Living Memory and Gargantuaskin map availability are tied to Dawntrail’s current content. Confirm the map is still obtainable in your client before planning a session around it.

The primary source for the access rules and the item descriptions is SQUARE ENIX’s Patch 7.3 notes. The Thonky and Game8 guides add corroboration on the Vault Oneiron rewards.
