Yoshi is inside a spotted egg on the roof of Peach’s Castle in the Mushroom Kingdom. After completing the main story, find the scarecrow west of the castle, throw Cappy at it to reveal stairs, and cross the roof to the east side. Hit the egg with Cappy to release and capture Yoshi.
How to reach the roof of Peach’s Castle
- Travel to the Mushroom Kingdom and go to Peach’s Castle.
- Walk around to the castle’s west side and throw Cappy at the scarecrow. A temporary staircase appears.
- Climb the stairs to the roof, then cross to the east side. The spotted Yoshi egg is there.
Nintendo Life’s Mushroom Kingdom guide describes using the west-side scarecrow to reveal the staircase and crossing the roof to reach the egg.

How to get Yoshi
Strike the egg with Cappy. Yoshi will emerge and can be captured. The GameFAQs walkthrough also places the egg on the east side of the roof and describes breaking it open to capture Yoshi.
Is the roof flagpole required?
No. The roof’s east side also has a flagpole with a Power Moon, but it is a separate optional objective. Yoshi’s flutter jump and tongue can help reach that high flagpole; neither is needed to find or capture him.
