Most ingredients come from one of five routes: fishing, Meteors on Ancient Isle, appraisal, Crab Cages, or treasure chests opened with treasure maps. A few items depend on a specific island, event, or quest route rather than a general drop. The details below come from the community-maintained Fisch Wiki, last updated September 25, 2026. It is not official developer documentation, so confirm anything time-sensitive in game.
How to unlock the Ancient Archives
The Archives requires an Eclipse event and all four Ancient Isle fragments: Ancient, Solar, Earth, and Deep Sea. The Archives wiki page says that since Update 1.75.0 the puzzle can be completed by one player. Guides that call for four players working together may be out of date.
| Fragment | Where the Ancient Isle page places it | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Deep Sea | Under the waterfall | Not stated |
| Solar | Mountaintop | Only during an Eclipse |
| Earth | In a cave | The Ancient Isle page contains conflicting notes on availability, so confirm it in game before planning around this fragment |
| Ancient | Caught by fishing at Ancient Isle | Not stated |
How many rods can you craft?
The Craftable Rods page lists 15 rods in its overview. Its recipes can require a level, C$, and specific materials. A separate Fishing Rods search summary reports 27 craftable rods overall. The two figures probably measure different scopes, and the 15-rod page may cover only a subset. Treat any rod count as tied to the wiki’s September 25, 2026 update and to the list it was taken from. The recipes named in this guide come from the Craftable Rods page and do not claim to cover every rod in the game.
Gemstones
Lapis Lazuli, Opal, Ruby, Amethyst, and Moonstone drop from Meteors on Ancient Isle. The Ancient Isle page places the Meteor at approximately X 5694.8, Y 174.5, Z 632. Individual rod pages, such as the one for Amethyst, point to the same Meteor route. This is the most consistently documented route for gemstones on the wiki.

Driftwood and its variants
The Craftable Rods page says most recipes that call for Driftwood with a mutation can be filled through appraisal, fishing, or Crab Cages. The Lunar Driftwood recipe entry confirms the same three routes.
| Source | Documented for | Not established by the wiki |
|---|---|---|
| Appraisal | Most mutated Driftwood recipes; Lunar Driftwood; Poisoned Driftwood (Toxic Spire Rod page) | Odds and availability for each individual mutation |
| Fishing | Most mutated Driftwood recipes; Lunar Driftwood | Drop odds for each mutation, and the best equipment to use |
| Crab Cages | Most mutated Driftwood recipes; Lunar Driftwood | Per-mutation availability |
The three routes are not equal across every variant. The wiki does not give matching odds for each mutation, so a route that works for one Driftwood variant may not be equally practical for another.

| Magic Thread | Fishing anywhere; treasure chests found with treasure maps | Both routes are listed on the wiki |
| Ancient Thread | The same broad routes as Magic Thread, per the Lost Rod page | No separate detail given |
| Murky Thread | Forgotten Temple trial reward, per the Toxic Spire Rod page | No other route stated |
| Lunar Thread | Not stated | Appears in craftable recipes, but the wiki does not establish a general method |
Island, trial, and event materials
Some materials are tied to one location or activity, so plan around that requirement before you start.

Materials without a confirmed route
The Craftable Rods recipe list names the following newer ingredients, but the wiki does not set out clear acquisition routes for them:
- Spirit Sea Mine
- Spirit Speed Core
- Shrouded Golden Sea Pearl
- Elder Mossjaw
- Frozen Frostwyrm
- Essence of Starfrost
- Frostbitten Northstar Whale
Check each item’s own wiki page or the in-game item description before planning a route for these.

Choosing between routes
When an ingredient has more than one route, compare them on four points before you commit time to one:
- Is the route always available, or gated by an event or quest?
- Does it require a particular location or tool?
- Does it consume currency or treasure-map resources?
- Is the route confirmed for that exact material variant?
The wiki does not rank routes, so none of them is documented as the best option.
Checking details in game
Fisch updates change drops, event schedules, and recipe lists. Before a session, confirm which fragments you still need, whether an Eclipse is active, and whether the recipe you are targeting appears in the current Craftable Rods list.
