Search B.A.R.D. facilities, check rooms for loose pickups, and complete quests or Lead objectives. You also need the right Training Manual to reveal some specialized skills before you can buy them.
Where to find Training Stimulants
Training Stimulants turn up through exploration and some objective rewards. Rebellion’s launch tips explain that Manuals teach skills and that finding Stimulants unlocks them: Xbox Wire’s Atomfall launch tips, published March 24, 2025.

Search B.A.R.D. facilities and crates
Prioritize B.A.R.D.-associated facilities and open the crates you find there. MapMaster’s Atomfall Training Stimulants tracker identifies B.A.R.D. crates as a reliable source.
Check the whole room
Do not stop after searching containers. Destructoid reports that loose Stimulants can sit on counters, desks, shelves, and other points of interest. Sweep the room as you explore.

Complete quests and Lead objectives
Some Stimulants are also reported as rewards for completing quests or Lead objectives, so progression can add to what you find while searching.
Use a location tracker when you need a specific area
MapMaster organizes reported locations across the regions and points to the Interchange as a particularly dense source later in the game. Its page is undated, so treat it as a location aid rather than a definitive or current count of everything available.
How Manuals and Stimulants work together
After the tutorial, open your backpack and select Skills. The menu contains four trees: Ranged Combat, Melee Combat, Survival, and Conditioning. Stimulants pay for skills shown as available; a Training Manual reveals certain specialized skills so they can be purchased.

Manuals can be found in the world or obtained from merchants, and some are tied to dialogue choices or NPCs. If a skill you want is not available in the menu, look for its required Manual rather than assuming you simply need more Stimulants.
Spend skill points with a plan
The available supply is limited, and reviewed guides say it is not enough to purchase every skill. Prioritize the abilities that suit how you play instead of trying to fill every branch.
Destructoid highlights Disarm Traps, Charisma, Deep Pockets, and Gunsmith as possible early utility picks. These are guide recommendations, not universally best choices; some require access to the Crafting Manual. Check each skill’s prerequisites and cost in your own Skills menu before committing.

Why published skill costs and totals are uncertain
Third-party guides do not agree on the cost range: Destructoid says some skills cost up to five or six Stimulants, while MapMaster reports costs from one to five. Because the figures conflict, there is no reliable universal maximum to quote here; use the current in-game menu for the cost of a specific skill.
Likewise, MapMaster’s undated page lists 96 tracked location entries, but an entry can contain multiple Stimulants. That figure is not an audited total of skill points in the game, so it should not be read as one.
