Get the Old Rod in Dewford Town, the Good Rod on Route 118, and the Super Rod in Mossdeep City.
Where to get each fishing rod
| Rod | Location | How to reach the giver |
|---|---|---|
| Old Rod | Dewford Town | Talk to the fisherman east of the Dewford Town Gym. Pokémon ORAS Wiki’s Dewford Town location page identifies him as the giver. |
| Good Rod | Route 118 | Reach the eastern side of the route and speak to the fisherman there. You need Surf to cross the water. The Good Rod location reference describes the route and access. |
| Super Rod | Mossdeep City | Speak to the fisherman inside the house east of the Mossdeep City Gym. The Super Rod location reference identifies the house. |
How to use the rods
These are in-game key items, not real-world fishing gear. Use a rod while facing a body of water to fish for wild Pokémon. The available encounters vary by rod; Bulbapedia’s Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire walkthrough lists fishing encounters by rod.

Which rod should you look for?
Get the rod associated with the Pokémon you want to catch. The Old Rod is the first of these three pickups described in the location references. The Good Rod requires Surf to reach its Route 118 giver, while the Super Rod is found later in Mossdeep City; its location reference describes it as the best rod in the game.
