In current Retail World of Warcraft, you generally do not need to visit a flying trainer: riding skills unlock automatically at the required character level. If you specifically need the legacy Orgrimmar location, Blizzard places the Flying Trainer on the city’s top level, near the flight-point area.
Do you need to visit a flying trainer in Retail WoW?
No—not to learn a riding skill in current Retail. Blizzard’s July 11, 2023 Dragonflight: Fractures in Time update notes say characters learn the appropriate mount riding skill automatically when they reach its required level. The notes list Expert Riding at level 30.
If you expected to train a skill and cannot fly, check your character’s level and learned riding skills first. The automatic unlock applies to Retail; it should not be assumed to describe every Classic version.
Where is the Flying Trainer in Orgrimmar?
Blizzard’s Orgrimmar city tour identifies the Flying Trainer on the city’s “Top Level,” near the flight-point area. This is older location guidance, published in 2016, so treat it as a fallback for a version or situation where visiting a trainer applies—not as a required step for current Retail.

Is a flight-style switch the same as learning riding?
No. Skyriding and Steady Flight are flight styles, distinct from learning a riding skill at a trainer. Blizzard’s June 5, 2024 Skyriding overview says Skyriding is available from the start in Khaz Algar, while Steady Flight can be unlocked at maximum level by exploring The War Within zones and completing the campaign.
To change between the available styles, use the Mount Journal. Blizzard’s returning-player guide notes that mounts without Skyriding support are grounded while Skyriding is active.

What if you play WoW Classic?
The answer depends on the specific Classic version. Retail’s automatic riding-skill unlock and the old Orgrimmar city-tour location are not enough to establish current trainer requirements or locations for every Classic ruleset. Check guidance for your exact version before traveling to a trainer.
