The RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are no longer preorder products. NVIDIA released both desktop GPUs on January 30, 2025. In August 2026, you are choosing among in-stock, ready-to-ship, built-to-order, backordered, and marketplace systems. The best purchase is the complete PC with the right CPU, power supply, cooling, memory, storage, warranty, and delivery promise—not simply the cheapest listing carrying an RTX badge.

What “available” means now
- In stock: The seller states it can dispatch immediately or offers a confirmed pickup slot.
- Ready to ship: A completed PC is awaiting fulfillment; verify the actual dispatch window.
- Built to order: Assembly starts after payment, so the listed build time is not an arrival date.
- Backordered: Payment may be accepted before a firm shipment date exists.
- Marketplace listing: The storefront hosts another seller whose warranty, returns, and inventory differ.
A product page or search result proves only that a listing exists. Check the checkout page for seller, condition, stock, and an estimated arrival date.
RTX 5090 or RTX 5080?
Choose RTX 5090 for uncompromised performance
An RTX 5090 makes sense for high-refresh 4K gaming, demanding ray tracing, GPU-limited rendering, local AI, 3D work, or video production. It also requires a stronger overall platform: an appropriate CPU, substantial cooling, a quality high-capacity PSU, and a case with airflow and clearance. A 5090 system commonly costs $4,000–$6,000 or more because it includes all those parts, Windows, assembly, support, and seller margin.
Choose RTX 5080 for high-end 4K value
The RTX 5080 is the more sensible choice when you want flagship-class 4K gaming without a $5,000-plus computer, or when your display and workloads will not use the 5090’s extra capability. NVIDIA’s Founders Edition reference lists 16GB GDDR7, 360W total graphics power, and an 850W recommended system power requirement; board-partner cards and complete PCs can differ. See the official RTX 5080 specifications.
DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation support varies by game and settings. NVIDIA’s advertised multipliers are not equivalent to native-rendered frame-rate measurements; treat them as feature claims, not universal benchmarks. NVIDIA explains the supported features here.

| Use case | Look for |
|---|---|
| RTX 5080 gaming | Modern mid/high-end AMD or Intel CPU, 32GB dual-channel RAM, 2TB NVMe SSD, named quality PSU with modern PCIe support, and effective air or liquid cooling. |
| RTX 5090 gaming | High-end CPU appropriate for high-refresh gaming, 32GB minimum (64GB preferable for longevity), 2TB or larger NVMe SSD, robust PSU with headroom, and high-airflow case cooling. |
| Creator or workstation use | 64GB RAM or more when projects demand it, larger or additional SSDs, a CPU with strong multicore performance, and a documented cooling and warranty plan. |
| Premium enthusiast system | Every major part named by manufacturer and model, verified GPU dimensions, premium cooling, clear support terms, and a delivery date you can accept. |
Where to shop, in detail
Best Buy
Best Buy is the quickest broad check for retail stock and pickup. Its filtered page includes multiple manufacturers and may show “ready today” by ZIP code. Open each listing and confirm sold-by status, new versus open-box condition, CPU, one-stick versus two-stick RAM, SSD size, PSU model and ATX generation, warranty, and the actual pickup or shipping date.
CyberPowerPC
CyberPowerPC is useful when you want to change CPU, memory, storage, cooling, or Windows options. Catalog promotions and estimated ship dates can change, and less prominent brands may be used for RAM, SSD, PSU, or cooler. Treat an estimate as planning information, not a delivery guarantee.
iBUYPOWER
Use the NVIDIA GPU catalog to compare preconfigured and custom systems. Require the exact GPU manufacturer, PSU brand and wattage, motherboard chipset, cooler type, RAM speed and layout, and estimated build and ship time before comparing prices.
ORIGIN PC
ORIGIN targets buyers paying for boutique assembly, presentation, configuration, and support. Its ready-to-ship catalog has included RTX 5090 Founders Edition systems. The premium is difficult to justify for value buyers or anyone planning to replace most parts later.

NZXT
NZXT’s Player PCs provide a simple, unified purchase experience. Confirm whether a page’s “up to RTX 5090” wording corresponds to a currently selectable GPU, then verify the exact card, CPU, RAM, SSD, cooler, and warranty.
Alienware, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, and MSI
These OEMs can be attractive when promotions, financing, or support matter. Alienware, HP OMEN, Lenovo Legion, ASUS, and MSI desktop pages are linked above. Before buying, check whether the case, motherboard, PSU, cooling, or connectors are proprietary. That is a flexibility trade-off, not proof that every system is poor.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to vet a listing before checkout
- Authenticate the GPU: Confirm it is a desktop RTX 5090 or RTX 5080, not a laptop GPU or vague “RTX 50-series” description. Record the board partner and model.
- Balance the CPU: Avoid pairing a flagship GPU with an entry-level processor if you target high-refresh gaming or CPU-heavy applications.
- Check memory: Treat 32GB as the practical gaming baseline; choose 64GB for creation, simulation, local AI, or heavy multitasking. Ensure two modules when the platform supports dual-channel operation.
- Check storage: Prefer a 2TB NVMe SSD for a flagship PC; 1TB can fill quickly with modern games.
- Identify the PSU: Require brand, model, wattage, efficiency, and modern PCIe power support. Wattage alone is insufficient.
- Inspect cooling and airflow: Confirm a suitably sized CPU cooler, intake and exhaust fans, radiator clearance, and a case that is not restrictive.
- Verify physical fit: Compare the card’s length and thickness with the case, front radiator, drive cages, and safe power-cable bend space. NVIDIA’s 304mm, 137mm, two-slot Founders Edition reference dimensions do not apply to every add-in-board card.
- Check the platform: Review motherboard chipset, M.2 slots, memory support, Wi-Fi, and realistic upgrade paths.
- Read software and support terms: Confirm Windows 11 inclusion, activation details, warranty provider, labor coverage, return-to-builder requirements, and any restocking fee.
- Separate shipping stages: “Ships in” is not “arrives by.” Screenshot the promised dates and read cancellation terms before paying.
Red flags that justify walking away
- “850W Gold” or similar wording without a manufacturer and model.
- 16GB RAM or a 1TB SSD in an otherwise flagship-priced system.
- An unknown motherboard, cooler, GPU model, or connector arrangement.
- Marketplace sellers with unclear warranty or return addresses.
- Proprietary internals when you expect to upgrade the PSU, board, case, or cooling.
- No firm build or shipment estimate, especially when payment is taken immediately.
- An RTX 5080 system priced near or above a well-equipped RTX 5090 system solely because of a luxury brand or overclocked card.
- A listing that says “available” but is sold out, region-limited, pickup-only, open-box, or outdated at checkout.
Buy now or keep comparing?
Buy now when
The exact desktop is genuinely in stock or has a dependable pickup date, every major component is named, the PSU and cooling are appropriate, and its total price is reasonable against comparable systems.
Wait or switch listings when
The seller hides the PSU or motherboard, uses a weak CPU, limits the machine to 16GB RAM or 1TB storage, relies on proprietary parts you do not want, or offers only an uncertain ship estimate. A well-balanced RTX 5080 is preferable to a poorly configured RTX 5090.

- Best configuration comparison: CyberPowerPC or iBUYPOWER after specifying every major component.
- Premium build: ORIGIN PC or NZXT if presentation and support justify roughly $6,000-class pricing.
- OEM convenience: Alienware, HP OMEN, or Lenovo Legion after checking proprietary design and upgrade limits.
- Best value target: An RTX 5080 system with 32GB RAM, 2TB NVMe storage, a named quality PSU, and a modern CPU.
These are buying routes, not permanent rankings. Recheck stock, seller, price, warranty, and arrival date immediately before ordering.
