How the Yan Qiren encounter works
There is a discrepancy between walkthroughs about the final interaction. GamesRecon’s detailed route says to learn Meridian Touch and then use it on Yan Qiren. The independent Where Winds Meet Handbook’s Mystic Skills overview also links the skill to Yan Qiren at Stonewash Strand, but its overview does not settle the sequence; it lists “Immobilized” as a choice. Search-result excerpts from other guides describe alternate dialogue or General Shrine steps, but those excerpts are not enough to establish that those instructions apply to the same version or route.
Therefore, do not assume that selecting “Immobilized” is itself the unlock, or that every player must follow a General Shrine detour. Check the current Jianghu Legacy quest objective and Yan Qiren’s interaction prompt. If the prompt differs from a guide, prioritize what the game asks you to do and follow the marker currently attached to the quest.

Combat
GamesRecon describes Meridian Touch as capable of immobilizing ordinary enemies and dealing physical damage. Against enemies with bound Qi, it can also break Vital Points. The guide says a Vital Point break disables Qi regeneration and triggers additional physical and Qi damage.
