Find his three old friends on successive in-game days, return to solve a lamp puzzle after each stage, defeat Deng Santong in the final sequence, and claim the quest reward if the tome does not appear automatically.
Where to find the Lamp-lighting Monk
Go to the Grand Imperial Temple in Kaifeng. Guides place the monk’s building at the temple’s northeast corner, in the Fairgrounds area near the center of Kaifeng City; another calls the location Lantern Hall within the temple complex. Map labels or localized names may vary, so follow the quest marker if it is available. Speak with the Lamp-lighting Monk to begin A Faltering Flame, a tale about rekindling the lamps and finding three of his old friends.
Complete A Faltering Flame
- Find Benevolent Li. Return to the monk after locating him and complete the first lamp-alignment puzzle.
- Advance the in-game day and find Mingniang. Return to the monk for the second lamp puzzle. The friends appear across separate in-game days; use the game’s clock function to advance time if the next person is unavailable.
- Advance to a further day and find Deng Santong. Bring him back to the monk. Defeat Deng when the fight occurs, then complete the final lamp puzzle and finish the conversation.
The available walkthroughs do not consistently document exact dialogue choices or lamp-board moves. Follow the active objective markers and use the board’s highlighted target rather than relying on a fixed sequence of moves.
Claim the Fivefold Bleed Tome
A Faltering Flame rewards include the Fivefold Bleed Tome. If the Inner Way has not appeared after the final conversation, open Journal → Wandering Tales, select the A Faltering Flame entry, and claim its reward. Walkthroughs report that this manual claim may be needed.

What Fivefold Bleed does
Guide descriptions characterize Fivefold Bleed as an offensive Inner Way that can apply Weeping Blood stacks through attacks, with a burst effect when the stack limit is reached. Exact proc chances and stack values are guide-reported and have not been verified against an official game source; check the in-game Inner Way description for the values in your current version.
