Tang Dao is the weapon a creator has described as a Sekiro-like, parry-and-momentum option in Where Winds Meet. That comparison comes from the creator, not from the developer, and the official game material does not confirm Tang Dao’s skill names, unlock steps, or parry timing. What the official sources do confirm is a wuxia combat system built on weapon switching and martial-art builds. That is enough to plan a parry-focused approach, but not enough to copy a rotation. This guide separates the two so you know what to act on and what to verify in your own game.
What “Sekiro style” means here
The phrase originates with TuanMax, whose video “Tang Dao Guide – Sekiro Style Combat, Parry Focus” was published on January 4, 2026. The creator’s summary reads: “Tang Dao and Breaking Blade deliver Sekiro-style parries, momentum management, and devastating rotations in Where Winds Meet.” Treat that as one player’s characterization. It is not a developer statement, and it is not a controlled side-by-side test of the two games.
Use “Sekiro-like” as a shorthand for the feel: reactive play, parries that reward timing, and attacks that keep momentum going. Do not read it as a claim that Where Winds Meet uses Sekiro’s posture system, deflection windows, or any other specific Sekiro mechanic. Nothing available establishes that.
The title also refers to a katana. The official game overview’s weapon list does not include a katana, and the sources available do not state what weapon category Tang Dao belongs to. Check the weapon’s description in your game before assuming how it handles.

What the official sources establish
The weapon roster
The official game overview describes combat as “fluid, responsive martial arts combat built around classic wuxia weaponry, skills, and strategy.” It lists sword, spear, dual blades, glaive, fan, and umbrella as weapons, and it also names bows and mystic martial arts as combat options.
Two weapons at once
A PlayStation Blog article states that players can equip two weapons at the same time and switch between them during combat. It also says that combining weapons with martial arts and internal arts forms the basis of a build. This is the most concrete official-adjacent source on how a loadout works, and it is the foundation for every practical suggestion below.

Builds from weapon-and-art combinations
A third-party build planner for Version 2.2, with pairings reported as checked on October 6, 2026, says weapon martial arts can be paired freely. Treat that as a lead rather than a rule. The planner’s surfaced content does not confirm that Tang Dao is currently playable or describe its mechanics, so it cannot fill the gaps listed below.
What is not yet verified
- The names and effects of Tang Dao’s skills, including any defensive or parry-related skill.
- How Tang Dao is unlocked, and whether it is available on every account at the time you read this.
- Parry or deflection timing windows, and whether they differ from ordinary blocking.
- Breaking Blade’s kit and how it pairs with Tang Dao, which the creator mentions but the sources do not detail.
- Damage figures, parry rates, or tier rankings. No published numbers were found for either weapon.
Until these are confirmed in the live game, any rotation or timing guide for Tang Dao would be guesswork, and this article does not offer one.

Version 2.2 and timing
News on the official Where Winds Meet website dated October 6, 2026 included an overview of a Version 2.2 update scheduled for October 11, 2026. As of October 8, 2026, that update was not yet live. Any statement about current skill behavior, balance, or availability should be checked after the update, and older videos, including the January 2026 creator video, may describe a previous version.
A practical setup with what is established
- Open the weapon or loadout screen and confirm that Tang Dao appears among equippable weapons. The exact menu label may vary, so look for the weapon by name.
- If Tang Dao is not available to you, stop here. Its unlock method is not verified in these sources, so check the official site’s news or in-game guidance rather than assuming a path.
- Choose a second weapon for switching. The PlayStation Blog confirms that two weapons can be equipped and swapped mid-fight.
- Open each weapon’s martial art and internal art descriptions and note which ones you can equip. These choices shape the build more than the weapon name alone.
- Test the setup in a low-risk encounter. Record how the weapon feels in your own hands and whether a parry seems to land, and treat that as your own observation rather than a published figure.
Single weapon or switching build
| Approach | What the sources confirm | Trade-off to test in play |
|---|---|---|
| Tang Dao as a main weapon, paired with a second weapon for switching | Two weapons can be equipped and switched in combat (PlayStation Blog) | More options across encounters, but more loadout decisions to manage during a fight |
| Tang Dao focus with fewer swaps | Not stated in the sources, including whether a single weapon can be used alone | Could build familiarity with one weapon’s timing, but you may lack a switch for encounters where it does not fit |
The table is qualitative because the sources do not establish comparative performance between Tang Dao and other named weapons.
