Chloe remains part of Max’s history, and how that history is framed reflects the player’s earlier choice—but Double Exposure does not establish one fixed present-day location for Chloe.
Is Chloe in Life Is Strange: Double Exposure?
Not as Max’s on-screen partner in the present-day story. Double Exposure centers on Max and Safi, not a new adventure with Max and Chloe together. That does not mean Chloe is erased from Max’s story: the game acknowledges Max’s past, with its framing shaped by the choice the player made in the original Life Is Strange.

Square Enix’s official synopsis does not specify a physical location for Chloe or give a scene-by-scene account of her dialogue. It is therefore more accurate to say she is not Max’s present-day companion in this installment than to claim the game gives her one definitive whereabouts.
What is Double Exposure about?
Max is now a photographer at Caledon University. After discovering her friend Safi murdered in the snow, Max tries to Rewind time—but instead opens a parallel timeline in which Safi is alive and still in danger. Max can Shift between the two timelines as she tries to solve the murder and prevent it.

Square Enix describes the premise with the tagline “Two Timelines. One Impossible Mystery.” The official console listing gives Double Exposure an October 29, 2024 release date.
How the original game’s ending affects Chloe’s story
The original Life Is Strange asks players to make a consequential choice. Double Exposure reflects that player-specific history rather than making it safe to declare that one of the original endings is the single canon outcome. Its official synopsis establishes the new mystery and setting, but does not settle every detail of how Chloe’s past is discussed in-game.

So the answer to “Where’s Chloe?” depends partly on what the question means: she is part of Max’s history, but she is not alongside Max as a present-day companion in Double Exposure. The game’s central plot is about Safi and the two timelines.
Does Max reunite with Chloe later?
Yes. The later game Life Is Strange: Reunion brings Max and Chloe together again. Square Enix’s current listing says players can play as both characters and describes the game as the saga’s finale. It lists a March 26, 2026 release date. That sequel is the relevant update for anyone who thought Chloe’s future remained wholly unresolved after Double Exposure.
