If by “worth” you mean community popularity, Animal Crossing World’s Villager Arena ranks all 417 villagers using head-to-head preferences; its August 19, 2026 update reported 7,252,266 votes. That is a popularity measure, not a record of trades or a guaranteed price.
What “worth the most” means in Animal Crossing
The question has three different answers depending on what you mean by worth:

- Popularity: which villagers players prefer in a poll or ranking.
- Informal trade value: what another player might offer in a particular community or transaction.
- Official in-game price: a fixed value set by the game for buying or selling a villager.
The available evidence supports a dated popularity ranking and historical reporting about informal trades. It does not establish a universal official villager price or a representative current dataset of completed trades. Nintendo’s official product page identifies the game, but does not publish prices for villagers.
Who is most popular in New Horizons?
Animal Crossing World’s Villager Arena compares villagers through head-to-head player preferences. The page was updated August 19, 2026, and reported 7,252,266 votes at the time. The total is a vote count reported by the page, not an independently audited number of unique players or a record of purchases.

The ranking covers all 417 New Horizons villagers. Nookipedia lists that roster as of version 3.0, with additions associated with updates over the game’s life. See its New Horizons villager list for roster and update context.
A head-to-head popularity result can help identify characters with strong community appeal, but it cannot tell you what someone will offer in a trade. Preference rankings and transaction prices measure different things.

Why Raymond is often mentioned as valuable
Raymond became associated with high informal trade demand during an earlier period of New Horizons. GamesRadar+’s January 20, 2026 account recalls that in 2020 an economically minded player might have found a buyer willing to pay millions of Bells for him, while noting that his financial value had faded.
That is historical editorial reporting, not a current price guide or proof that Raymond is now the most valuable villager. The account does not provide a market-wide sample of completed trades, so it should not be compared directly with a popularity poll.

How to judge a villager’s trade value
If you are considering an informal trade, treat any claimed value as specific to the buyer, seller, community, and moment—not as an official game price. Before relying on a ranking or offer, check what it actually measures:
- Date: Is the evidence recent enough for a volatile player-to-player market?
- Method: Is it based on head-to-head votes, asking prices, or completed transactions?
- Scope: Does it cover New Horizons, and which roster or game version?
- Meaning: Does the figure show player preference or money that changed hands?
A popularity ranking answers “Who do players prefer?” A completed-trade dataset would be needed to answer “Who actually trades for the most?” The evidence cited here does not provide a current, representative dataset of actual prices.
So, which villager is worth the most?
There is no substantiated single answer for current trade value. Raymond is a well-known example of past high demand, but the available reporting is from 2020 and is not a present-day price benchmark. For popularity, use a dated community ranking such as Animal Crossing World’s Villager Arena, while remembering that its votes do not establish trade prices.
