That is not an official Ubisoft measurement. Across the franchise, map figures use different boundaries and methods, so the ten entries below are useful reference points—not a standardized league table.
How to read Assassin’s Creed map sizes
Ubisoft has not published standardized square-kilometre measurements for the series. Guinness World Records says its Odyssey figure came from a third-party estimate by YouTuber Dimitris Galatas, who used ImageJ, in-game distance measurements and maps. Other figures below are likewise estimates attributed to the cited outlets or analysts.
Some sources count surrounding water or the full map rectangle; others estimate land or playable area. A whole game can also include multiple territories, while downloadable expansions add separate locations. Those differences mean the values cannot be treated as one consistent ranking. They are presented here as reported map footprints, with scope identified where the sources provide it.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey — about 256 km²
Guinness World Records reports an estimated 256.38 km² for Odyssey, based on Galatas’s third-party calculation; Everyeye and Dot Esports give about 256 km² including sea, and estimate 130 km² of land. Guinness, Everyeye and Dot Esports cite a sea-inclusive estimate of 235 km². This makes the number most useful as a reference for the broad naval-world footprint, not as a land-area comparison with games measured on another basis. [Guinness World Records; Everyeye; Dot Esports]

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla — England: about 120 km² with water
Everyeye and Dot Esports report 120 km² for England including water, or 94 km² without it. CD-Action’s separate adjusted-playable-area analysis puts England at 94.05 km². Everyeye estimates Origins at 92 km² overall, including 80 km² of land. CD-Action’s adjusted estimate of playable area is 96.46 km², while its full rectangular map measurement is 182 km². Assassin’s Creed Shadows — 90.86 km² adjusted playable area
CD-Action estimates Shadows’ playable area at 90.86 km², excluding northern and southern seas. The same analysis measures the full rectangular map at 154 km², illustrating how much the answer can change with the boundary used. [CD-Action]

Dot Esports attributes estimates to DG VFX that distinguish a 13 km² playable area from a 45 km² entire map; Baghdad itself is estimated at 2.40 km². Those values describe three different boundaries, not competing measurements of the same area. [Dot Esports]

Assassin’s Creed Unity — Paris: about 2.40 km²
Everyeye and Dot Esports estimate Paris at 2.40 km². Like London in Syndicate, it represents a compact city map rather than a world made up of broad countryside or sea. [Everyeye; Dot Esports]
Why different lists give different answers
Water can change the total
Odyssey and Black Flag are naval settings, so some estimates include sea and others report land separately. For Valhalla’s England, cited estimates range from 94 km² without water to 120 km² with it. A number without its boundary is therefore incomplete.
A map rectangle is not all playable ground
CD-Action measures rectangular map bounds and then estimates playable area after adjusting for inaccessible or less relevant regions. For example, its figures for Odyssey are 256 km² for the full rectangle and 238 km² adjusted playable area. Its Shadows figures are 154 km² and 90.86 km² respectively. The distinction is a methodological one, not proof that one source has found an official size.
Separate regions and expansions complicate a top ten
Valhalla includes multiple territories, and expansions add more locations. Counting only England is different from combining every base-game region; adding DLC changes the scope again. A previously published claim that Valhalla reaches 750–1,000+ km² when major expansions are included is not corroborated by the cited comparative sources, so it is not treated as an established total here. Older games can also have separate maps: Assassin’s Creed III’s Frontier and New York are distinct locations.

No. Area alone does not measure mission density, verticality, traversal time, or how much meaningful content a player encounters. GamesRadar reported that Black Flag Resynced creative director Paul Fu said the 2026 remake keeps the map at 16 by 16 km while making the world denser, with new islands and locations within cities. That statement concerns the remake and illustrates why footprint and exploration experience are different measures. [GamesRadar]
