The January 2024 notice names Assassin’s Creed II on Xbox 360, Brotherhood on Mac, Liberation HD on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and Revelations on PC. Ubisoft said purchased copies remain playable, while selected online functions are affected.
Which games and platforms did Ubisoft list for January 25, 2024?
Ubisoft’s January 2024 notice scheduled the listed services for decommission on January 25, 2024. The announcement is platform-specific: it does not say that every edition or platform for each title lost the same functions.
| Game | Platform named by Ubisoft | Announced timing and scope |
|---|---|---|
| Assassin’s Creed II | Xbox 360 | Services scheduled for decommission on January 25, 2024; this is not a statement that all versions of the game shut down. |
| Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood | Mac | Services scheduled for decommission on January 25, 2024; the separate PC DLC change is described below. |
| Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD | PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 | Services scheduled for decommission on January 25, 2024. |
| Assassin’s Creed Revelations | PC | Services scheduled for decommission on January 25, 2024. |
These entries come from Ubisoft’s January 2024 announcement. Its wording says that the change affects certain online functionalities and that purchasers can still play the games.
What does “shut down” mean in these notices?
Ubisoft describes service decommissioning, not a universal shutdown of the games themselves. Its legacy-games help page says offline features remain available. For most games on its list, online multiplayer, in-game news, and player statistics have been shut down; it also says Units and Challenges have been retired for listed games. Players can no longer earn Units by completing those Challenges, and rewards may still unlock but cannot be received in-game.

The affected functions vary by title and platform, so a notice about one edition should not be read as a blanket change to every release. See Ubisoft’s legacy-games service information for its list and descriptions.
What changed for the PC versions of Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed III?
A separate Ubisoft notice in 2022 concerned activation of single-player downloadable content, not the January 2024 service list. Ubisoft said players needed to activate the affected PC DLC before October 1, 2022, to continue playing it. If activated before the deadline, the DLC would remain downloadable and retainable.

Ubisoft published its update on August 31, 2022, moving the planned decommission date from September 1 to October 1. This DLC activation issue is distinct from the later service decommissions affecting Mac, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC entries. Details are in Ubisoft’s August 2022 update.
Is Assassin’s Creed Rebellion shutting down?

How to check whether a specific version is affected
- Identify the exact game edition and platform you use; for example, Assassin’s Creed II on Xbox 360 is not interchangeable with another platform’s edition.
- Compare that platform with Ubisoft’s dated service notice and legacy-games list. A title appearing for one platform does not prove all versions are affected.
- Distinguish online-service changes from the 2022 PC DLC activation requirement for Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed III (2012).
Ubisoft’s January 2024 statement says purchased games remain playable after the specified online services are decommissioned. That does not mean every online feature remains available.
