Whichever route you choose, make sure your defense can handle the next dangerous round before spending on a farm.
Which Banana Farm path should you choose?

This comparison is about how each route fits a run, not a verified ranking of current income. The best practical choice depends on cash timing, missed pickups, map space, how long the game is likely to last, and how much attention you can spare.
How each path works as a choice
Top path: production you collect
Banana Plantation and Banana Research Facility suit a straightforward production approach. Pick this path when you can reliably collect its output and expect enough rounds for the investment to matter. If collecting competes with managing other towers, collection support can ease the workload.
Middle path: stored cash and timing
Monkey Bank and IMF Loan center on stored value, withdrawals, and a timed loan ability. This route makes sense when you have a clear upcoming purchase and will manage the bank rather than treating its cash as immediately available.

Bottom path: less collection attention
Marketplace, Central Market, and Monkey Wall Street are the lower-attention choice described in the available strategy guidance. The Monkey Wall Street entry notes automatic collection behavior. This can help when you are busy with abilities, tower movement, or watching multiple lanes.
Fund the next defense checkpoint before farming
A Banana Farm earns money; it does not pop bloons, detect camo, damage lead, slow ceramics, or break MOAB-class layers. Buy one only after the defense needed for the next dangerous round is covered. The following checkpoints are useful planning heuristics, not a universal build order:

- Before Round 24: have a camo answer.
- Before Rounds 28 and 30: have a way to handle lead.
- Before Round 40: prepare enough MOAB damage.
- Before Rounds 63 and 78: plan for ceramic cleanup.
- Before Round 90: make sure your defense can handle DDTs.
If buying a farm delays the answer to the next checkpoint, wait. Income is useful only if the defense holds long enough to benefit from it.
Does the answer change by game mode?
Yes. This advice is for modes where Banana Farms and their income strategies are relevant. CHIMPS disables extra income and farm selling, so the usual farm-path decision does not apply there. Boss and freeplay farming habits also should not be treated as the default for an ordinary clear.

Are tier-five upgrades or income rates enough to pick a winner?
Not on their own. Banana Central is the top-path tier-five upgrade and buffs Banana Research Facilities; Monkey-Nomics is the middle-path tier-five income option; Monkey Wall Street is the bottom-path tier-five upgrade associated with automatic collection. Exact rates, costs, and performance can depend on game version and conditions, so those names do not establish a universal current path ranking.
For a beginner, the simplest starting rule is to choose the path whose management you can handle: production and collection on top, bank timing in the middle, or less collection attention on the bottom. Do not commit to a farm before checking what your defense still needs.
