Yes—several major Final Fantasy releases are confirmed on current platforms. FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH and FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE are listed for Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, and PC. FINAL FANTASY XVI is confirmed digitally for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC. Square Enix also says every mainline single-player Final Fantasy game, plus FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, is available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC.
Those announcements are strong evidence for the named games and Xbox availability, but they are not a complete catalog of every legacy port, remaster, spin-off, region, or storefront. Use this as a verified starting list, then check the exact store listing for the game, edition, platform generation, and region you intend to use.

Verified Final Fantasy games on current platforms
The table below contains the titles and platform statements explicitly confirmed in Square Enix announcements dated in 2025 and 2026. “PC” is kept at the level stated by the announcement; a PC listing does not automatically identify every storefront.
| Game | Confirmed platforms | Storefront or edition detail stated | Extra availability information |
|---|---|---|---|
| FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH | Nintendo Switch 2; Xbox Series X|S; Xbox on PC; PlayStation 5; PC | The announcement identifies Steam for the PC version. | A free demo is available on Switch 2 and Xbox. An optional Streamlined Progression feature is included. |
| FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE | Nintendo Switch 2; Xbox Series X|S; Xbox on PC; PlayStation 5; PC | The announcement lists PC but does not enumerate a PC storefront in the material available here. | The physical Switch 2 edition was announced with a Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY Play Booster while supplies lasted. Treat that as a time-limited promotion, not a guaranteed inclusion. |
| FINAL FANTASY XVI | Xbox Series X|S; Xbox PC | The Xbox announcement describes the release as digital. | The same announcement says every mainline single-player Final Fantasy game and FINAL FANTASY XIV Online is available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC. |
For Rebirth and Remake Intergrade, the platform list is unusually broad: both are named for Sony’s current console, Microsoft’s current console family and PC ecosystem, Nintendo’s Switch 2, and PC. That does not mean the editions are identical. Features, save compatibility, physical availability, language support, and regional listings can differ by platform.

What Square Enix’s Xbox statement means
The statement covering Xbox is broader than the three individually named releases. Square Enix says that every mainline single-player Final Fantasy game, together with FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, is available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC. This is useful if Xbox is your primary system because it indicates that the main numbered single-player series is represented on those platforms.
However, the announcement does not provide a title-by-title catalog in the material available for this guide. It also does not enumerate every PC storefront, edition, regional variation, or spin-off. Read the statement as a publisher-level availability claim, not as proof that every Final Fantasy product—including every remaster, mobile release, fighting game, rhythm game, or other spin-off—appears on Xbox.
Mainline games versus spin-offs
“Mainline single-player” describes the numbered, primarily solo entries covered by the Xbox announcement. FINAL FANTASY XIV Online is separately named even though it is an online game. Spin-offs and other related releases are outside the specific promise unless their own listings confirm them.

Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC are separate platform entries in the announcement. A game being available on one should not be used as an assumption about the other when a store listing gives a narrower edition or release description. Check the Xbox console listing and the PC listing independently before purchasing.
How to choose the right version
Availability belongs to a particular title and edition, not to the Final Fantasy name as a whole. Use this checklist before you buy or download anything.
- Identify the exact game. Distinguish FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH from FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE, and both from other Final Fantasy VII releases. Confirm the title text in the store listing rather than relying on a search result or a shortened name.
- Match the platform generation. Look for the exact wording “Nintendo Switch 2,” “PlayStation 5,” or “Xbox Series X|S.” A current-platform listing is not evidence that an older console receives the same release.
- Check the PC storefront. Rebirth’s announcement specifically identifies Steam. The Remake Intergrade announcement available here confirms PC but does not name a storefront, so verify the live listing you plan to use. The Xbox announcement likewise does not enumerate every PC storefront.
- Choose physical or digital deliberately. The Xbox announcement describes FINAL FANTASY XVI as digital. A physical promotion mentioned for the Switch 2 edition of Remake Intergrade was limited to supplies available at the time of release; do not assume current stock or inclusion.
- Confirm your region. Publisher announcements are not a guarantee that price, language, age rating, release timing, downloadable content, or inventory will match in every country. Open the store set to your account’s region.
- Read the edition name and requirements. Deluxe, standard, bundle, upgrade, and platform-specific editions can have different contents. Check whether the listing requires the named console generation or a particular PC account.
- Verify current status immediately before checkout. A dated announcement establishes that a release was made available; it does not guarantee that a physical copy remains in stock or that a promotion still runs.
Platform-by-platform guidance
PlayStation 5
Both FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH and FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE are confirmed for PlayStation 5. If you are choosing between them, verify whether you want the Remake Intergrade edition or the later Rebirth release; the platform confirmation does not imply that one product contains the other.
Xbox Series X|S
Rebirth, Remake Intergrade, and FINAL FANTASY XVI are individually confirmed for Xbox Series X|S. In addition, Square Enix’s broader statement covers every mainline single-player Final Fantasy game and FINAL FANTASY XIV Online on the platform. Open the Xbox listing for the exact title because a franchise-wide statement does not specify each edition’s purchase model or included content.

- If you own the Nintendo Switch software in physical format, you can play the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by downloading only the Upgrade Pack free of charge.
Xbox on PC
The same three named releases are confirmed in the Xbox PC ecosystem, and the broader statement covers the mainline single-player series plus FINAL FANTASY XIV Online. “Xbox PC” should be treated as the publisher’s platform label. Confirm the actual PC listing, account requirement, installation method, and edition before downloading.
Nintendo Switch 2
Rebirth and Remake Intergrade are confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2. Rebirth has a free demo on Switch 2, giving prospective players a way to check the release before buying. Remake Intergrade’s physical Switch 2 promotion included a Play Booster while supplies lasted; because that condition is explicit, it should not be treated as a permanent feature of every copy.
PC outside the Xbox listing
Rebirth is explicitly identified as available through Steam. Remake Intergrade is confirmed for PC, but the available announcement does not name its storefront. For any PC purchase, check the title’s official store page for operating-system requirements, account linkage, regional availability, and whether the edition is sold through the storefront you use.
What “playable on modern consoles” does not guarantee
A platform announcement answers one question: whether a particular release was made available for the named system. It does not automatically answer these others:

- Whether a spin-off, remaster, compilation, or mobile title is included in the mainline availability statement.
These distinctions matter especially when a listing uses a franchise name without showing the full subtitle. Search by the complete game title and inspect the platform badge on the product page.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to verify a title that is not in the table
The official announcements used here do not enumerate a complete platform-by-platform catalog for legacy games, remasters, spin-offs, and all regions. For another title, use a title-specific verification process:
- Start with the publisher’s official game page or announcement for that exact title.
- Record the platform wording exactly, including the console family and generation.
- Open the regional store for your account and compare the title, edition, and release status.
- Check whether the page describes a digital release, a physical edition, or both.
- Look for edition-specific notes about upgrades, included bonuses, downloadable content, or limited-time items.
- If the publisher page and store page differ, rely on the current regional store for purchase availability and treat the announcement as historical context.
This method is safer than inferring availability from a trailer, a compatibility list for another game, or a broad statement about the franchise.

Practical buying paths
If you own a PlayStation 5
Both Rebirth and Remake Intergrade have confirmed PS5 listings. Compare the exact edition pages, then check whether you want one game or both. Do not assume a purchase on another platform carries over unless the store explicitly says so.

If you own an Xbox Series console
Start with the Xbox listing for the game you want. Rebirth, Remake Intergrade, and XVI are confirmed, and Square Enix’s statement covers the mainline single-player series and XIV Online. Use the individual page to confirm whether your preferred edition is available digitally.
If you play on PC
Rebirth has a Steam listing identified by Square Enix. For Remake Intergrade and other games, verify the storefront rather than assuming Steam, the Xbox PC ecosystem, or another service from the existence of a console version. Check requirements and account details on the live page.
If you own a Switch 2
Rebirth and Remake Intergrade are the confirmed choices in this guide. Rebirth’s free demo can help you assess the Switch 2 release. For Remake Intergrade, treat the Play Booster as a supplies-limited promotion and inspect the current physical product description.
Bottom line for 2026
The clearest cross-platform answers are FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH and FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE: both are confirmed on Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, and PC. FINAL FANTASY XVI is confirmed digitally on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC. Square Enix additionally states that every mainline single-player Final Fantasy game and FINAL FANTASY XIV Online is available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC.
