Based on information available on the afternoon of October 8, 2026 (Pacific Time), both are listed as claimable from October 8 through 8:00 AM Pacific Time on October 15, 2026. Claim them before that deadline, because the offers rotate weekly and unclaimed titles are not held back for you.
This week’s PC offers
A listing updated October 8, 2026 names both titles and gives the same claim window. A community post from the same period names the same two games and links to their Epic Games Store pages. Epic’s official free-games landing page did not display the current titles when checked, so confirm the names on each game’s Epic Games Store page before you claim.

How the weekly rotation and claim deadline work
Epic Games Player Support states: “A new free game is available every Thursday at 8 AM PT.” The same support page says that:
#1 Best Overall
- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
- You have seven days to claim each offer.
- A claimed game stays in your library even if you do not download it immediately.
- Claiming requires an Epic account with two-factor authentication enabled.
The weekly cycle explains the dates: each new offer starts on a Thursday at 8:00 AM Pacific Time, and the seven-day claim period closes at the same time the following Thursday. The current listing gives the end of the window as 8:00 AM PT on October 15, 2026. Times are Pacific, so readers in other time zones should convert them. For example, 8:00 AM PT is 11:00 AM Eastern Time during daylight saving time.
Offers that have already ended
Epic’s October 2, 2026 weekly article listed two titles as free until October 8, 2026 at 5:00 PM. The article did not specify a time zone for that cutoff, but those offers are no longer claimable as of this update.

- Buried Stars
- System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster
If either title is already in your library from an earlier claim, it remains there under the rule that claimed games stay in your library.
The mobile giveaway is a separate offer
A community post from the same period reports that The Big Con is a free mobile title. It is not one of this week’s PC offers, so do not look for it in the PC giveaway list. Its availability on your device and its claim window were not confirmed in the sources reviewed for this article, so check the mobile listing directly.

Regional availability and checking the offer yourself
Regional availability was not established across all markets. If the offers do not appear for you, check the Epic Games Store listing for your region before assuming the promotion is unavailable. Also check that your account has two-factor authentication turned on, since claiming requires it.
Because the rotation happens every Thursday, check the store again next week. Offers from this list will not be extended past their listed window.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
- Redemption: Online
