What PSSR support means on PS5 Pro
PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) is Sony’s AI image-upscaling feature for PS5 Pro. Sony says it analyzes game images pixel by pixel as it upscales them. A game may support the original PSSR, or its developer may integrate Sony’s upgraded PSSR library in a game update or at launch. These are related but distinct support claims.
Sony also describes an optional PS5 Pro system setting, “Enhance PSSR Image Quality,” for games that already support PSSR. It applies improved PSSR without a title-specific integration announcement. Results vary by game, and Sony says the setting can be turned off if unexpected visual effects appear. Sony’s stated goals for upgraded PSSR include better image stability, clearer fine detail, and more consistent performance—not a guaranteed improvement of the same size in every game. Games Sony has named for upgraded PSSR
Sony’s official announcements name the following PS5 Pro games for upgraded PSSR. The status column distinguishes a dated rollout or launch claim from an announcement whose original wording was future-facing.

For Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the April 7 date is the announced update date; check the installed game version to confirm the feature is available in your copy. Sony’s dated announcement is here. How to check whether a game has upgraded PSSR
Look for a title-specific statement and the required game version rather than relying on the phrase “PSSR supported” alone. Sony reported more than 50 PS5 Pro games using original PSSR as of February 27, 2026, but that historical count is not a current total and does not identify every game individually. Sony has not provided a complete live title-by-title roster in the announcements cited here.

- Check the game’s update notes or Sony’s announcement for an explicit mention of upgraded or new PSSR.
- Check whether the announcement names a patch, version, or launch date; install the relevant update before expecting the upgraded integration.
- On PS5 Pro, the “Enhance PSSR Image Quality” system setting may apply improved PSSR to an already PSSR-supported game, even without a separate title-specific upgraded-PSSR announcement.
- When comparing modes, check which graphics mode you are using and evaluate clarity and stability in motion. Sony’s qualitative descriptions do not establish a universal numerical gain across games.
Do not confuse PSSR with QSSR
QSSR (Quick Spectral Super Resolution) is a separate, faster AI-upscaling tier Sony announced for the base PS5 on October 1, 2026. Sony named Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei as its first QSSR titles. Those announcements do not establish PSSR support on PS5 Pro. See Sony’s QSSR announcement.
