What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Upgrade the firearm you actually use most, not the weapon with the earliest shop option. Hellraiser: Revival has no documented, universally optimal first upgrade. Your best choice depends on the encounters ahead, the handling problem you want to solve, the attachment’s cost and availability, and the five upgrade slots on that gun.
For an early example, Zora’s first shop lists the pistol’s Hair Trigger for 150 Coins and Extended Magazine for 180 Coins. Those are options to evaluate, not proven winners: the available guides provide no controlled damage, survival, or resource-efficiency comparison.

The short answer
Start with the weapon that is already doing most of your work. If you regularly rely on the pistol, compare its available attachments; if the revolver, shotgun, SMG or assault rifle is your practical main weapon, save your Coins and upgrade that gun instead. An attachment sitting in a shop is not automatically a good purchase.

Thumb Wars describes firearm attachments as affecting handling, including fire rate and magazine size. NowGame likewise advises investing in weapons you actually use. Neither guide establishes a best first attachment for every player, and neither provides a validated campaign-wide upgrade order.

- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
This is therefore a decision guide rather than a tier list. It uses the confirmed upgrade system and the launch-version shop examples to help you make a defensible choice, while separating documented facts from practical judgment.
How weapon upgrades work in Hellraiser: Revival
Attachments are installed through the inventory
Both Thumb Wars and NowGame describe selecting an attachment in the inventory and installing it on a compatible firearm. The important word is compatible: an attachment shown for one gun is not a universal modification for your entire arsenal. Check the target weapon before spending.
Each firearm has five upgrade slots
The guides describe five firearm upgrade slots. The possible attachment pool can be larger than those five spaces, so choosing one effect means giving up the opportunity to occupy that slot with another effect. Treat a purchase as a loadout decision, not merely as a permanent increase to every statistic.

The system changes handling, not a documented universal damage tier
Available descriptions mention changes such as fire rate and magazine size. They do not publish a complete stat sheet, measured time-to-kill tests, recoil figures, or ammunition-efficiency tests. In practical terms, an attachment can make a gun feel more suitable to you, but the evidence does not support declaring one attachment the highest-damage or safest option.
Your broader arsenal affects the decision
The official support FAQ describes Hellraiser: Revival as a single-player, first-person action-horror survival game with melee weapons, ranged weapons and special abilities using the Genesis Configuration. Creative Bloq’s review identifies the revolver, pistol, SMG and assault rifle, along with breakable melee knives and bats, and notes Genesis abilities including telekinesis and pyrokinesis. Because several tools compete for your attention, a firearm upgrade should support the way you are actually solving encounters rather than replace every other option.
A four-step method for choosing your first upgrade
1. Identify your real primary firearm
Look at what you draw when an encounter becomes dangerous, not what you intended to use when you started the chapter. A weapon you carry but rarely fire is a poor first investment, even if its attachment is available early. Consider the last several encounters: which gun consumed most of your ammunition, solved the most urgent threats, or remained reliable when melee was too risky?

It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
Use the answer to narrow the decision to one firearm. Do not spread your first Coins across several guns merely to make the inventory look complete; the five-slot limit makes focused investment more useful than indiscriminate spending.
2. Name the handling problem you want to fix
Choose an effect before choosing an item. If you lose time reloading during pressure, a larger magazine is the relevant category. If you need a faster firing response, inspect the fire-rate-oriented option available for your gun. If neither issue is affecting your encounters, keep your currency until a shop offers an attachment that solves a problem you can describe clearly.
This approach avoids treating a price or an impressive-sounding name as proof of effectiveness. The guides explain what kinds of handling changes exist, but they do not quantify how much each attachment changes a weapon.
3. Check compatibility, cost and slot competition
Before confirming a purchase, verify three details in the inventory or shop interface:
- Compatibility: the attachment must be listed for the firearm you intend to use.
- Cost or acquisition point: record the Coin price or the location where the item is obtained.
- Slot opportunity cost: decide which of the gun’s five spaces this attachment occupies and what alternative you are forgoing.
NowGame’s list shows that shop stock and upgrade locations are staged across the game. A price shown at one visit may not describe every later visit, and launch-version availability can change with patches.
4. Reassess as the arsenal expands
Do not lock yourself into the first decision for the entire campaign. New firearms and later shop stock can change which gun is your workhorse. Revisit the inventory after a major progression point, especially if your ammunition use or encounter strategy has changed. The available documentation does not prove a single upgrade route from the opening shop to the end of the campaign.

The early pistol choice: Hair Trigger or Extended Magazine?
Zora’s first shop is the clearest documented early example. A current NowGame guide lists two pistol attachments there:
| Attachment | Listed price | When it fits | What is not established |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hair Trigger | 150 Coins | Inspect it if your priority is a faster-firing or more responsive pistol feel. | The guide does not provide a measured fire-rate increase, damage change or ammunition-efficiency result. |
| Extended Magazine | 180 Coins | Consider it when reload timing is the problem and you want more rounds before a reload. | No source supplies a quantified magazine increase, survival improvement or damage advantage. |
These are launch-version examples, not a ranking. Choose Hair Trigger only if a faster firing response addresses the way you are losing encounters. Choose Extended Magazine if reload interruptions are the specific issue. If the pistol is not your main firearm, neither purchase is automatically justified simply because it is available first.
The 30-Coin difference is a budget consideration, not evidence that the cheaper attachment is better. Keep enough currency for other shop needs rather than assuming every early upgrade must be bought immediately.

Pistol
The pistol is a sensible first candidate when it is your dependable, frequently drawn sidearm. Compare fire-rate-oriented and magazine-oriented handling changes against the encounters you are currently facing. Its early shop options make it easy to evaluate, but early availability alone does not establish campaign priority.
Revolver
Choose a revolver attachment first when the revolver is the weapon you trust for your high-pressure shots. The available material confirms the revolver as part of the arsenal but does not publish a universal attachment winner or comparative damage figures. Apply the same test: identify the handling issue, inspect compatible options, and account for the five-slot limit.
Shotgun
NowGame’s upgrade list includes shotgun entries and staged acquisition points. If the shotgun is solving close-range encounters for you, its compatible upgrade can outrank an unused pistol attachment. The documented information does not establish a superior shotgun route, so judge the purchase by frequency of use and the handling change it provides.

SMG
An SMG can make a fire-rate or magazine decision feel especially consequential because you may spend ammunition quickly, but the available guides do not provide tested values for rate of fire, capacity, recoil or resource efficiency. Upgrade it when it is your actual workhorse and when the selected effect fixes a problem you can observe, not because its category sounds stronger.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsAssault rifle
The assault rifle is also identified in the review as part of the ranged arsenal. Save a slot for it when you rely on it regularly; otherwise, an attachment for a frequently used pistol, revolver, shotgun or SMG is a more rational first spend. No supplied evidence supports calling the assault rifle the best first upgrade for every playstyle.
Melee weapons and Genesis abilities
Not every improvement in your combat plan is a firearm attachment. The official FAQ confirms the Deluxe Nailer as a full melee weapon obtained from Zora’s shop at the first encounter, distinct from cosmetic weapon skins. Genesis Configuration abilities such as telekinesis and pyrokinesis also sit alongside conventional weapons. If an encounter is being solved through melee or abilities, a firearm upgrade may not be the most immediate way to improve your results; the attachment system only affects the compatible gun you install it on.
When you should wait instead of upgrading
- You rarely use the target gun: an unused attachment cannot repay its slot or Coin cost.
- You cannot state the problem it solves: buying an item merely because it is in stock turns a limited five-slot system into guesswork.
- A more-used weapon is about to enter your loadout: staged shop stock and progression can introduce a better fit for your current route.
- You are comparing prices as if they were performance scores: the documented 150- and 180-Coin pistol prices do not measure effectiveness.
- You have not checked compatibility: selecting the wrong firearm can leave the intended gun unchanged.
Waiting is an active choice. It preserves currency and keeps future slots available until your play pattern gives you better information.

“The earliest attachment must be the best first upgrade.”
Correction: early stock is an availability fact, not a performance verdict. Compare the option with your most-used firearm and your current handling problem.

“I should fill all five slots immediately.”
Correction: five slots are a limit, and the possible attachment pool can be larger. Leave room for an effect that better matches later encounters instead of treating empty space as wasted space.
“One weapon can cover every encounter.”
Correction: Hellraiser: Revival combines several firearms, breakable melee weapons and Genesis abilities. A first upgrade should strengthen your preferred tool without pretending that the other systems are irrelevant.
“A guide’s shop list is permanent for every version.”
Correction: NowGame’s prices and locations describe a launch-era progression and may be version-sensitive. Confirm what your current shop and inventory show, particularly after a patch or on a different platform edition.

A practical pre-purchase checklist
- Open the inventory and select the firearm you use most.
- Read the compatible attachment list for that specific gun.
- Write down the handling problem: reload interruptions, firing response or another observable issue.
- Compare the available attachment’s Coin cost or acquisition location with your remaining budget.
- Check which of the firearm’s five slots it would occupy and what alternative you would lose.
- Install it only if the change addresses that problem; otherwise, keep your currency.
- After the next progression point, reassess whether that firearm is still your primary tool.
Edition and platform context
Saber Interactive’s official FAQ reports an October 8, 2026 release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam at the time of access. It also confirms physical PS5 and Xbox Series X|S discs, a Nintendo Switch 2 game-key-card edition and a Steam demo. Those edition details do not change the upgrade logic: shop stock, prices and attachment availability should be judged from the version and progression state you are actually playing.
Bottom line
There is no evidence-backed universal first weapon upgrade in Hellraiser: Revival. Pick the firearm you use most, select the handling change that fixes a problem you can identify, verify compatibility and cost, and remember that every attachment competes for one of five slots. The early pistol’s Hair Trigger (150 Coins) and Extended Magazine (180 Coins) are useful examples of the decision, not a mandatory order. Revisit the choice as new weapons and shop stock appear.
