Which heroes and copies should you save?
Keep four- and five-star heroes
Ascension can use multiple heroes of the same element, and a six-star promotion may require a duplicate along with other five-star heroes. Keep four- and five-star heroes until you understand what your roster needs for its next star-up; decomposing one could remove a future promotion ingredient. Three-star heroes are a different case
Pocket Gamer recommends decomposing three-star heroes into shards rather than developing them as heroes. Treat that as guide advice, not a guaranteed rule for every later game build; check the hero’s role and the current in-game options before using it as material.
Should you save leveling resources?
Usually, put gold, experience, and breakthrough-type resources into heroes on your active team when a campaign wall makes those upgrades useful. The sources describe ways to reallocate some investment, but they do not establish one authoritative current refund policy.

Pocket Gamer calls the option Hero Reset and says it returns resources used to upgrade a hero. BlueStacks describes Hero Rebirth as refunding upgrade materials below level 100, while noting a gem cost above that level. Those descriptions differ in naming and conditions, so inspect the current in-game preview—especially at or above level 100—before investing on the assumption that a reset will return everything. How should you decide whether to spend now or save?
Before using a scarce hero or currency, work through these checks:

- Use superheroes with different strengths and abilities
- Clever bidding mechanism: secure the best cards like in a trading card game
- Quickly played in approx. 20 minutes and perfect for in between
- Is this hero helping your active team? If an upgrade could get your team past a current progression obstacle, spending recoverable leveling materials may be worthwhile.
- Could the hero or copy be needed for ascension? Preserve four- and five-star heroes until you know whether the next promotion requires their rarity, element, or duplicate.
- Does the reset screen show a refund? Check the actual preview and any stated cost or level condition rather than assuming all investment is recoverable.
- Does a current shop or event rule change the currency’s value? Compare the immediate purchase with what is available in-game now. The guides describe daily and specialty stores with items such as shards and gear, but do not establish a dependable event calendar or an optimal reserve.
What about shards and store currencies?
Do not hoard every currency automatically, or spend it based on an assumed future event. Pocket Gamer points to daily and specialty stores and recommends daily quests and dungeons as ongoing sources of loot, but does not document current event timing or a universal best purchase. Check the present shop prices and event rules, then weigh them against the upgrade you need now.
