Extract equipment you have replaced and do not expect to keep or transfer. Before confirming, check that item’s preview for its return, appearance unlock, Kina fee, and any warning about upgrades you will lose. AION 2’s Item Extraction dismantles equipment; Essence Extraction is a separate gathering profession.
What gear should you extract?
Use the item’s expected lifespan and the upgrades you have invested in it to decide:

These are guide-backed rules of thumb, not a universal extraction table: no official global table of eligible gear and fixed returns was located. Let the current in-game preview govern the individual decision.
How to check an extraction before confirming
- Open your Cube and select the equipment you are considering.
- Choose the flask or beaker extraction action in the item panel. VGC’s October 1 walkthrough describes this flow and the Kina charge. VGC walkthrough.
- Review the displayed materials, appearance unlock, Kina cost, and any warning about upgrades that will be lost.
- Confirm only if the displayed return is worth giving up the item and any unrecovered investment.
The October 2, 2026 SPACE4GAMES guide reports one helmet extraction that cost 1,000 Kina and returned 17 Enhance Stones plus an appearance unlock. That is one author-reported example, not a guaranteed rate for helmets or other gear. The guide also reports that extracted appearances remain unlocked in the Wardrobe.

What can be lost?
The October 2 guide says extracting enhanced equipment returns its Enhance Stones but not invested Manastones or Theostones. A fan-wiki cross-check also lists those socketed upgrades as unrecovered and says spent Kina is not returned. AION 2 fan wiki: Item Extraction. These are secondary-source accounts; inspect the specific item’s warning rather than treating them as an official, universal rule.
Transfer can be an alternative when you want to preserve progression on upgraded gear, but the SPACE4GAMES guide says global AION 2 Transfer mechanics were not fully published as of October 2, 2026. Its discussion draws on Korean and Taiwanese guides and notes disagreement about Breakthrough progress, so those regional details should not be treated as confirmed global behavior.

Item Extraction is not Essence Extraction
Despite the wording of the question, extracting an item’s essence is not the name of the equipment-dismantling system described in the guides. Item Extraction breaks down equipment for materials and may unlock its appearance; Essence Extraction is a gathering profession. If you are deciding what to do with old gear, use Item Extraction and judge each piece from its preview.
