KINGDOM HEARTS – The Story So Far is the PS4 package that combines KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX with KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 FINAL CHAPTER PROLOGUE. Together, they contain nine named entries: six playable games, two HD-remastered cinematic compilations, and one movie. Square Enix’s North American product listing does not include KINGDOM HEARTS III.
If you want the collection that also adds KINGDOM HEARTS III, look for the separately announced All-In-One Package or another package specifically labeled Collection [I–III]. Those are different products, not alternate names for The Story So Far.

What The Story So Far contains
The name “The Story So Far” refers to two previously released HD collections sold together for PS4. The first component is KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX; the second is KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 FINAL CHAPTER PROLOGUE. Square Enix’s official North American listing names every entry included in those two components.
Counting the names produces nine entries, but counting playable software produces six games. KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days and KINGDOM HEARTS Re:coded appear as HD-remastered cinematics, while KINGDOM HEARTS χ Back Cover is presented as a movie. They are part of the package’s story material, but they are not playable campaigns in this collection.

Games and presentations in HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX
The 1.5+2.5 portion contributes six named entries. Four are playable games and two are cinematic compilations.
| Entry | How it is presented in The Story So Far |
|---|---|
| KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX | Playable game |
| KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories | Playable game |
| KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days | HD-remastered cinematics |
| KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX | Playable game |
| KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep Final MIX | Playable game |
| KINGDOM HEARTS Re:coded | HD-remastered cinematics |
Playable entries in 1.5+2.5
KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX, KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories, KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX, and KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep Final MIX are the interactive games in this part of the package. Each is listed as an individual title by Square Enix, so they should be counted separately when you are determining how much playable content the collection includes.
The two cinematic compilations
KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days and KINGDOM HEARTS Re:coded are not supplied as playable versions here. The collection uses HD-remastered cinematics for both. You can watch their story material, but you should not buy The Story So Far expecting two additional games with controls, gameplay systems, or playable stages.
Games and movie in HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
The 2.8 component adds three more named entries. Two are playable games and the third is a film presentation.

| Entry | How it is presented in The Story So Far |
|---|---|
| KINGDOM HEARTS Dream Drop Distance HD | Playable game |
| KINGDOM HEARTS 0.2 Birth by Sleep –A fragmentary passage– | Playable game |
| KINGDOM HEARTS χ Back Cover | Movie |
The two playable games
KINGDOM HEARTS Dream Drop Distance HD and KINGDOM HEARTS 0.2 Birth by Sleep –A fragmentary passage– are the interactive titles supplied through HD 2.8. In practical terms, these are the entries in this portion that you launch and play rather than simply watch.
The movie presentation
KINGDOM HEARTS χ Back Cover is identified as a movie. It expands the collection’s narrative material, but it is not a game and does not add a playable campaign. This is why a nine-entry count and a six-game count can both be accurate: they use different definitions of “included.”
Are all nine entries playable?
No. The clearest way to describe the package is:
- Six playable games: the four interactive entries in 1.5+2.5 plus the two interactive entries in 2.8.
- Two cinematic compilations: KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days and KINGDOM HEARTS Re:coded.
- One movie: KINGDOM HEARTS χ Back Cover.
If you are making a checklist for a playthrough, mark the cinematic and movie entries as watchable story material rather than games to complete. If you are comparing package descriptions, retain all nine names because Square Enix includes each of them in the official contents list.
Does The Story So Far include KINGDOM HEARTS III?
No. KINGDOM HEARTS III is not part of The Story So Far. The two collections in The Story So Far stop before that separately named title.

Square Enix later announced an All-In-One Package for European retailers. Its announcement describes that package as combining the two Story So Far collections with KINGDOM HEARTS III. The announcement called it a physical PS4 package scheduled for June 12, 2025. That date is historical release information; it does not establish current retailer stock or pricing.
The distinction matters when a listing uses words such as “complete,” “all-in-one,” or “collection.” Check the actual contents rather than assuming that every compilation carrying the Kingdom Hearts name includes the third numbered game.
How the main Kingdom Hearts bundles differ
| Package | What the cited official listing says it contains | What that means for KINGDOM HEARTS III | Edition and platform details in the cited listing |
|---|---|---|---|
| KINGDOM HEARTS – The Story So Far | HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX and HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, with nine named entries across the two collections | Not included | North American product listing identifies it as a PS4 product; English and Japanese text, English audio |
| KINGDOM HEARTS All-In-One Package | The two Story So Far collections plus KINGDOM HEARTS III | Included | European announcement describes a physical PS4 package scheduled for June 12, 2025 |
| KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I–III] | The Japanese product page lists the earlier collections, KINGDOM HEARTS III, and the Re Mind downloadable content | Included | The packaged edition requires an internet connection to download additional data |
These are separate package names. The All-In-One announcement and the Japanese Collection [I–III] page are useful comparisons only when you are deciding whether you need KINGDOM HEARTS III as well. Their edition notes should not be silently transferred to The Story So Far.
Platform, language and edition details for The Story So Far
Platform
The official North American product page identifies The Story So Far as a PS4 product. That is the platform fact established by the cited listing. A retailer page may describe a different bundle, region, or platform, so verify the package title and platform label before purchasing.

Text and audio languages
The same North American listing specifies English and Japanese text and English audio. Those language details belong to that regional product listing. They should not be generalized to every regional release without an edition-specific listing.
Do not apply the Japanese download warning automatically
The Japanese Collection [I–III] page says its packaged version needs an internet connection to download additional data. That note applies to that separately named Japanese collection. The cited North American Story So Far listing does not establish the same requirement for The Story So Far, so treat the two products independently.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which package should you look for?
Choose The Story So Far when you want the pre-III collections
The Story So Far is the relevant package if your target is the two HD collections listed above and you understand that three of the nine entries are video presentations. It gives you the six playable games supplied by 1.5+2.5 and 2.8, along with the cinematics and movie that Square Enix includes as story content.
Choose a package that explicitly adds III when you want the numbered sequel
If your checklist must include KINGDOM HEARTS III, The Story So Far alone cannot satisfy it. Look for a product whose official contents explicitly name KINGDOM HEARTS III, such as the European All-In-One announcement or the Japanese Collection [I–III] page. Do not infer inclusion from a generic “complete collection” phrase.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Check whether you need Re Mind
Re Mind is named on the Japanese Collection [I–III] page, not in the North American Story So Far contents list. If that downloadable content matters to your purchase, confirm that the exact edition you are considering lists it. The presence of KINGDOM HEARTS III by itself does not identify every add-on included in every regional bundle.
A reliable way to verify a retailer listing
- Read the product name. Confirm whether it says The Story So Far, All-In-One Package, or Collection [I–III]. These names identify different packages.
- Check the contents panel. For The Story So Far, look for both HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX and HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue rather than relying on a cover image.
- Separate playable games from video entries. Confirm that the listing does not describe 358/2 Days, Re:coded, or χ Back Cover as playable editions; in The Story So Far they are cinematics or a movie.
- Confirm the platform and region. The cited North American listing is for PS4 and specifies English and Japanese text with English audio.
- Look for an explicit III entry. If KINGDOM HEARTS III is absent from the contents, it is not part of that Story So Far package.
- Read edition-specific download notes. The internet-download requirement cited for the Japanese packaged Collection [I–III] edition should be applied only when that exact edition is being sold.
Common counting mistakes
Calling the collection “nine games”
That shorthand hides an important difference. The official list has nine named entries, but two are HD-remastered cinematics and one is a movie. Calling all nine playable games gives an inaccurate expectation about what you can control.
Assuming “Story So Far” means the entire numbered series
The title describes the two included HD collections, not a package containing every later release. KINGDOM HEARTS III requires a different bundle or a separate purchase.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteConfusing a later bundle with the original PS4 package
The All-In-One Package adds KINGDOM HEARTS III, while the Japanese Collection [I–III] page also names Re Mind. Those additions do not retroactively change the contents of The Story So Far.
Bottom line
The Story So Far combines KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX and KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 FINAL CHAPTER PROLOGUE on PS4. Its nine named entries comprise six playable games, the HD-remastered cinematics for 358/2 Days and Re:coded, and the χ Back Cover movie. KINGDOM HEARTS III is not included; select an explicitly labeled All-In-One or Collection [I–III] package if you need it.
