Twitch’s standard Affiliate subscription split is 50/50 according to its official FAQ search result. The Plus Program information describes 60/40 and 70/30 net subscription shares for qualifying Affiliates and Partners. The higher figures are not the default for every creator, and the detailed current eligibility terms should be confirmed in the creator dashboard or agreement. YouTube: memberships are one revenue stream among several
YouTube’s 70% figure is for net revenue from eligible memberships and named fan-funding features, not a blanket share for every way a channel earns. A creator who primarily earns through Watch Page ads instead sees a published 55% of net ad revenue; Shorts uses a distinct allocation model. Why a larger percentage may not mean more money
Different percentages use different revenue bases
KICK’s example expresses the streamer’s share of a $5 subscription and identifies the remainder as a processing fee. YouTube’s figures are explicitly shares of net revenue or allocated Shorts Creator Pool revenue. Twitch’s enhanced Plus shares are stated as net subscription shares. A percentage without its revenue basis can be misleading: the amount left after the platform’s applicable calculation is what matters to the creator.

Audience and revenue mix change the result
A creator with many paying members may care most about subscription terms; another may rely more on advertising, donations, or other fan-funding features. The number and location of viewers, engagement, stream category, eligibility, and available monetization products all affect what a channel can earn. The platform terms above do not establish a matched comparison of total income for otherwise identical streamers.
Eligibility and payout access matter
A headline split is useful only if you qualify for the feature and can receive its payouts under the applicable terms. KICK says subscription monetization requires Affiliate or Partner status and notes that jurisdictional payout thresholds may apply. YouTube’s shares are conditional on eligibility and acceptance of relevant modules. Twitch’s enhanced rates require qualification under the Plus Program; confirm current terms in your account rather than treating a search-result summary as a personal offer.

How to choose a platform for your own channel
- List the revenue you realistically expect to use. Separate paid subscriptions or memberships from ads, tips, and short-form video revenue; do not compare one platform’s subscription percentage with another platform’s ad share.
- Check the exact eligibility conditions. Read the current platform terms and your creator dashboard for the program, country, and monetization feature you plan to use.
- Estimate net income, not just the percentage. For a subscription-led channel, estimate likely paying subscribers and use the platform’s stated basis. For ad-led income, account for variable ad demand rather than multiplying views by a headline share.
- Confirm payout mechanics before committing. Check thresholds, schedule, payment methods, and country-specific availability in the current agreement or dashboard.
- Choose for audience fit as well as terms. A higher published cut cannot compensate for a smaller reachable audience or monetization tools your viewers will not use.
