They do list Ashlet at power 9 with 1 heart, but identify it as a Fire pet caught at Bonfire Spire—not as an initial starter.
What counts as a strong Prodigy pet?
Prodigy describes pets as having individual statistics and elements. In battles, elemental advantages matter: choosing a spell that is strong against an opponent’s element can help weaken it. So a useful comparison would need to consider more than a single power number: it would include each confirmed starter’s stats, elemental matchups, and fit with the rest of a player’s team. Prodigy’s game overview describes quests, battles, spells, and math questions as parts of the game.
What the official Ashlet page says
Prodigy’s Ashlet page lists Ashlet as a Fire pet with power 9 and 1 heart. It says Ashlet can be caught at Bonfire Spire. The page does not label Ashlet as an initial starter, and it provides no publication year for those stats. Those figures therefore cannot be used as a verified comparison of starter choices.
Why online starter rankings conflict
Third-party pages give incompatible accounts of the starter roster. SplicedOnline lists Ashlet, Bolt, and Mist, while Games Learning Society lists Leafie, Sparky, and Ripple and recommends Leafie. Neither roster or recommendation is corroborated by the official sources reviewed. The distinction matters because the official Ashlet page describes Ashlet as caught at Bonfire Spire, rather than confirming it as an initial choice. Treat those third-party rankings as unverified, not as an authoritative answer.

How to choose once the starter roster is confirmed
When comparing the actual choices available in your game, first decide what “strongest” means for your team. A pet suited to dealing damage may not be the best fit if you need more durability or a particular elemental matchup.
- For damage: compare the confirmed pets’ power values.
- For survivability: compare their hearts.
- For matchups: consider each pet’s element alongside the opponents and spells you expect to face.
- For team balance: consider how the pet complements the rest of your team, rather than ranking it in isolation.
These are comparison criteria, not a ranking of the current starter options: the official material cited here does not publish a starter roster with comparable stats.

Do you need a product or membership to choose?
No physical product is needed to answer a starter-choice question. Prodigy describes its educational content as free, with optional memberships. It also says physical Epic toys with digital codes were discontinued in 2019; current Mythical Epics are virtual membership content. Prodigy’s product page provides its current product information.
