PSSR is a PlayStation 5 Pro feature, and support depends on the individual game. Sony has officially named a range of games using its upgraded PSSR, but has not published a single exhaustive, continuously maintained roster. The quickest way to verify a title is to install its latest update and look for an explicit PSSR mention in official patch notes or a PlayStation or developer announcement. A PS5 Pro Enhanced badge alone does not confirm PSSR support.
What PSSR does—and what the upgraded version changes
PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) is Sony’s AI-based upscaling technology for PS5 Pro. Sony describes it as a library that analyzes game images frame by frame as it upscales them. The upgraded version is intended to improve reconstruction precision, stability during motion, and clarity in fine detail. Those are Sony’s descriptions of the technology, not a guarantee of identical visual or performance results in every game. Sony’s February 27, 2026 announcement said PSSR had been used to boost effective resolution in over 50 titles on PS5 Pro at that time; that dated figure is not a complete current list.

How to check whether a game supports PSSR
- Confirm you are using a PS5 Pro. PSSR is a PS5 Pro feature; a standard PS5 cannot use it.
- Update the console software. On PS5 Pro, open Settings and check for a system software update. Sony said the March 2026 system update would roll out in phases and could also be checked for and installed manually through PS5 system settings. See Sony’s rollout announcement.
- Install the game’s latest update. Open the game’s update information or official patch notes, and search for an explicit reference to PSSR or upgraded PSSR. Game-specific updates can add support.
- Verify the claim through an official source. Check the game’s publisher or developer announcement, or PlayStation’s announcement. A general PS5 Pro enhancement statement is not enough to establish PSSR support.
How to use “Enhance PSSR Image Quality”
On PS5 Pro, Sony’s optional system-level Enhance PSSR Image Quality setting can apply the upgraded version in games that already support PSSR. It does not add PSSR to a game that lacks title-level support. Sony says results vary by game; if the option causes unexpected visual effects in a particular title, it can be turned off. Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does “PS5 Pro Enhanced” mean a game supports PSSR?
No. The PS5 Pro Enhanced badge indicates that a game has PS5 Pro enhancements, but those enhancements vary by title. Treat the badge as a sign of Pro-specific improvements, not proof of PSSR. Look for an explicit PSSR statement in the game’s official patch notes or a PlayStation or developer announcement. Sony’s explanation of PS5 Pro enhancements.

What to compare when trying PSSR
There is no universal PSSR result or official cross-game benchmark established by the cited announcements. For a practical, title-specific comparison, use the same game version and graphics mode and look at:
- Fine-detail clarity, including textures and distant objects.
- Image stability while the camera or scene is moving.
- Performance behavior in the selected graphics mode.
- Any unexpected artifacts or visual effects.
This is a practical way to assess a particular game, not a controlled test or a Sony-prescribed benchmark. An outcome reported for one title should not be generalized to another.
