There is no source-backed, universally best Witch minion skill setup for every stage of Path of Exile 2. For the campaign, one documented route centers on Skeletal Snipers and adds player-cast spells for clearing and boss support. For an endgame Infernalist, another route focuses on Skeletal Arsonists or Vaal Guard Spectres. Treat these as different build approaches, and check skill effects and support-gem compatibility in your current game version.
How to choose your Witch minion skills
Build around a main minion approach, then choose active spells that complement it. The campaign route described by PoE2Source uses Skeletal Snipers and several player-cast skills. An endgame community guide on the Grinding Gear Games Forum instead focuses on Skeletal Arsonists or Vaal Guard Spectres for an Infernalist minion army. These are guide-specific recommendations, not a controlled comparison or a universal ranking.
- For a campaign route: start with the Sniper-focused skill progression below.
- For an endgame minion army: consider an Arsonist- or Spectre-centered approach, while checking the guide’s patch context.
- For ascendancy: a separate campaign guide allows either Infernalist or Lich; the endgame forum setup is specifically Infernalist-oriented.
Campaign skills for a Skeletal Sniper route
PoE2Source’s campaign guide builds around Skeletal Snipers and pairs them with spells for early clearing and boss support. Its suggested skills are a progression, not a requirement to equip every gem at once.
Early clearing and single-target filler
- Contagion and Unearth: the guide opens with these for early enemies.
- Essence Drain: the guide later drops Unearth and uses Essence Drain as a single-target filler.
- Skeletal Sniper: the central persistent minion in this route.
- Raging Spirits: also appears in the guide’s early kit.
The guide’s listed early kit also includes Flame Wall and Frost Bomb, which it uses for boss support rather than treating the Sniper as the only skill that matters.

Boss support for Snipers
For bosses, the guide recommends placing Flame Wall and Frost Bomb on the target before using the Sniper’s Gas Arrow, and keeping Frost Bomb exposure active. Later, it adds Elemental Weakness and Bind Spectre, with Vaal Guard as its chosen spectre. This rotation and spectre choice belong to that guide; they should not be assumed to be optimal for every patch or Sniper build.
Endgame alternatives: Arsonists and Spectres
A separate endgame forum guide builds an Infernalist minion army around Skeletal Arsonists or Vaal Guard Spectres. That makes those options alternatives to the campaign Sniper route, rather than evidence that one minion type is always stronger. The available guides do not provide controlled damage or ease-of-play comparisons.

Ascendancy choice also depends on the route: one campaign guide permits Infernalist or Lich, while the cited endgame army guide is for Infernalist. Do not carry the latter’s setup over to Lich without checking its requirements and current skill interactions.
Offerings, support gems, and progression priorities
Pain Offering appears in the Witch skill list and in a community setup with support-gem recommendations. Bone Offering and other support options also appear in the Witch database. A September 2026 guide from ChaosBoost recommends prioritizing minion life, minion damage, and increased Spirit as the character progresses, and discusses support gems and Offerings.

Those are build-advice suggestions, not official confirmation of current gem effects or compatibility. Skill effects, unlock timing, Spirit demands, and which supports can be linked to a particular gem are version-sensitive. The Witch has multiple possible minion and utility skills, so a minion build is not a single mandatory summon. The documented routes support a practical distinction between a campaign Sniper progression and endgame Infernalist options built around Arsonists or Vaal Guard Spectres.
