There isn’t one best first Star Wars game for everyone: start with the genre you want and a game available on your platform. Choose Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for a story-led Jedi adventure, Star Wars Outlaws for open-world exploration, Star Wars: Squadrons for cockpit-based starfighter combat, or Star Wars Battlefront II for large multiplayer battles. If you want to follow Cal Kestis’s story, play Fallen Order before Jedi: Survivor.
Which Star Wars game should you start with?
Use this guide to match the game to the experience you want. These are genre-based starting points, not a ranking of which game is objectively best.

Start with Fallen Order if you want a connected Jedi story
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is the natural entry point for Cal Kestis’s story. Follow it with Jedi: Survivor: the official StarWars.com game page describes Survivor as a narratively driven, single-player title that picks up five years after Fallen Order. That five-year gap is story chronology, not a recommended waiting period between games. [c001]
For Survivor, EA’s FAQ lists Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC storefronts, and says the game launched on Amazon Luna on March 27, 2025. The FAQ also confirms retail and digital availability, but that does not guarantee a particular edition is currently in stock or sold in your region. [c002]

Choose Outlaws for open-world exploration
Pick Star Wars Outlaws if you want an open-world adventure rather than a Jedi-focused story or a dedicated combat mode. The official page follows Kay Vess and lists the game for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Check the store listing for your region before buying; the platform list alone does not establish current regional access. [c003]
Choose Squadrons for starfighter combat
Star Wars: Squadrons is the genre match for piloting starfighters from the cockpit. EA highlights multiplayer dogfights and fleet battles, and also describes a single-player campaign. Its listed platforms include PC storefronts, PlayStation, and Xbox One; verify the exact platform and store listing for your setup. [c004] [c006]

Check platform and access before you buy
- Match the listed platform and console generation to the hardware you own; a game listed for one generation or storefront is not automatically available in every edition on another.
- Check the current regional store listing for availability and edition details. Listed platforms do not guarantee regional access, price, or stock.
- If you are buying a physical copy, confirm that the edition matches your console or PC setup. EA confirms retail availability for Survivor, but no particular retailer’s current stock is established here.
- If multiplayer is your main reason for choosing a game, check the current online-service conditions before purchase.
