Mojang design director Laura de Llorens described talismans as “passive boosts” in an Xbox Wire podcast published September 26, 2026. Xbox Wire’s hands-on preview reported three talisman slots, making them part of loadout customization rather than active abilities like artifacts.
That tells you how to think about choosing one: look for a passive effect that fills a need in your build. It does not, by itself, reveal which talisman is strongest. The sources reviewed do not establish a complete item catalog, effect values, or a comparative ranking.

Why the bone is a provisional companion pick
The dog’s demonstrated behavior gives it a clear support role: it can attack and occupy enemy attention while the player acts. The preview writer’s regeneration-spot interaction also suggests a way that a kill-triggered weapon effect can support both the player and the companion. But this was a hands-on example, not controlled testing or confirmation that the combination is optimal in the live game.

How to choose among talismans in your live loadout
- Read the in-game effect description. Identify what the passive actually changes instead of inferring its effect from an item name.
- Match the effect to a gap in your build. Consider whether you need support, survivability, or another benefit, and how it complements your weapon, armor, and other equipment.
- Use the three slots deliberately. Multiple passives can be equipped, but the slot count alone does not establish which combination performs best.
- Check the result in the current game. Preview behavior may not capture launch-version details or later balance changes. Compare the actual effect in play before treating a choice as a recommendation for your build.
