The PS4 UNCHARTED: The Nathan Drake Collection bundles those three single-player campaigns, making it the simplest way to follow the original trilogy in story and release order. Playing in order is helpful, not required: PlayStation says each entry has a distinct story and can stand on its own, while the series also has continuity.
Which Uncharted game should you play first?
Start with UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune if you want to follow Nathan Drake’s main story from its beginning. Continue with UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves and then UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception. That order follows the original trilogy’s release sequence and gives you the clearest path through its evolving story.
This is a recommendation, not a rule imposed by the games. PlayStation’s product FAQ says each entry is a standalone adventure with a unique narrative, while also noting that the series has continuity. You can begin with a later game if that is the one you own or the character and premise that interest you most. PlayStation’s FAQ answers the question directly: “Whichever one you’d like.”
How the collections differ
The collection names can be easy to mix up. One gathers Nathan Drake’s first three adventures; the other pairs two later games. Neither collection is a complete package of every Uncharted campaign.

PlayStation lists Legacy of Thieves Collection as released January 28, 2022, and describes it as remastered for PS5 and PC. Store access, purchase options, prices, and physical stock can vary by region and change over time, so check the local listing before buying.
Where Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy fit
UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End
Uncharted 4 is a later Nathan Drake story. PlayStation’s description begins with Nathan retired from fortune-hunting before his brother Sam returns and draws him into another adventure. It can be played on its own, but the first three games provide the earlier context for Nathan’s arc.

UNCHARTED: The Lost Legacy
The Lost Legacy shifts the lead to Chloe Frazer, alongside Nadine Ross. Its adventure follows Chloe’s search for the Golden Tusk of Ganesh in India’s Western Ghats. It works as a standalone starting option if Chloe’s story appeals to you, or as a later follow-up after the Nathan Drake games. PlayStation identifies Chloe as a lead in both The Lost Legacy and earlier entries.

No. Legacy of Thieves Collection contains Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy, not Drake’s Fortune, Among Thieves, or Drake’s Deception. Its release also does not include multiplayer from the original titles, according to the collection’s product FAQ.
