Choose PS5 if that is your console, PC if your hardware meets Square Enix’s requirements, Switch 2 for portable play, or Xbox Series X|S if that is your platform. Pay extra for Digital Deluxe only if you want its digital art book and mini-soundtrack, and treat the Switch 2 Day One promo card as a separate, availability-dependent bonus.
Which platform is right for you?
| Your situation | Version to consider | Check before buying |
|---|---|---|
| You own a PS5 | PS5 | Compare your local price and decide between physical and digital. PS5 Pro owners also have the Versatility Mode added in update 1.050. |
| You have a gaming PC | PC | Check your CPU, GPU, Windows version, RAM and available SSD space against the requirements below. Publisher feature claims are not a guarantee of a particular result on your setup. |
| You want portable play or a physical Switch 2 copy | Nintendo Switch 2 | The Day One physical edition’s promo card is not in Standard Edition; Square Enix’s North American store lists Day One as sold out. Stock elsewhere may differ. |
| You own an Xbox Series X or S | Xbox Series X|S | Confirm the edition, price and availability in your regional store; the consulted publisher information does not provide a complete current Xbox edition comparison. |
| You want digital art and music extras | Digital Deluxe or its upgrade | Compare the current premium with what those collectibles are worth to you. The current price difference is not established here. |
Square Enix lists the game for PlayStation 5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S. No independent platform-versus-platform benchmark or current multi-region price comparison establishes one version as objectively best.
Can your PC run Rebirth?
Square Enix’s PC requirements page gives minimum and recommended specifications with performance targets. Treat those targets as publisher specifications, not independent benchmark results.
| Requirement | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
| Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i3-8100 | AMD Ryzen 5 5600 or Ryzen 7 3700X; Intel Core i7-8700 or Core i5-10400 |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | Radeon RX 6600 or above, Intel Arc A580, or GeForce RTX 2060 | Radeon RX 6700 XT or GeForce RTX 2070 |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
| Storage | 155 GB available on an SSD | 155 GB available on an SSD |
| Stated target | 1080p at 30 FPS on Low | 1080p at 60 FPS on Medium |
Square Enix says 12 GB or more of VRAM is recommended for 4K. Its game page also lists DLSS, variable refresh rate support and frame rates up to 120 FPS on high-spec environments. Those are publisher feature statements, not promises that every PC will reach a particular resolution or frame rate. The page says Steam Deck optimizations were being worked on; it does not establish a guaranteed handheld performance level.

- Players can enjoy immersive battles by using the DualSense PlayStation 5 controller with its haptic feedback integration
What do the editions add?
Standard Edition
Standard is the straightforward choice if you want the game without digital collectibles. On Switch 2, it does not include the Zack Fair Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY promo card associated with the physical Day One edition.
Switch 2 physical Day One Edition
The North American Square Enix Store listing describes a physical Day One edition with an exclusive Zack Fair promo card and marks it sold out. That status applies to the listed store and does not establish whether other retailers or regions have stock. The publisher’s listing also identifies FINAL FANTASY VII Rebirth: Material Ultimania, a hardcover art-and-information collection; it is optional collector material, not a game requirement.
Rank #2
- Weight: 0.25 lbs
- Great Gift Idea.
- Satisfaction Ensured.
- Produced with the highest grade materials
- Great for everyday use.
Digital Deluxe
Square Enix says Digital Deluxe, the Digital Deluxe Upgrade and the Digital Deluxe Twin Pack include a digital art book and mini-soundtrack, viewed through its Digital Content Viewer. Access requires the platform account that purchased the content. These are digital collectibles, not a playable expansion: the publisher’s FAQ says it has no plans for post-launch DLC. Check the listing for your platform for the exact contents and current price.
Does PS5 Pro change the choice?
For PS5 Pro owners, update 1.050 adds Versatility Mode. Square Enix describes it as combining characteristics of Performance and Graphics modes with PSSR, alongside rendering optimization and High CPU Frequency Mode. This is an official enhancement for PS5 Pro; the publisher description is not an independent comparison with other platforms.

Can you start with Rebirth?
Yes, if you are comfortable entering the story partway through. Square Enix calls Rebirth a standalone adventure for newcomers and says it includes an in-game recap video of Final Fantasy VII Remake. It is also the second title in a three-part remake project. Start with Remake first if you want the preceding story in full; the recap offers context but is not the same as playing that story.
