The winner could change depending on whether you mean the biggest single hit, sustained damage per second, or the fastest kill—and on the build, enemy, and encounter rules being compared.
What does “highest damage” mean?
These are different comparisons, so a result for one does not automatically answer the others:
- Highest single hit: the largest damage from one attack or ability cast.
- Highest sustained damage: damage dealt over a defined period, often expressed as damage per second.
- Fastest kill: the shortest time to defeat a specified enemy. This depends on more than a single damage number.
A ranking needs to say which metric it uses. Without that definition, “highest damage” is too broad to identify one frame.
Why the enemy and build matter
Damage depends on the attack and its setup as well as the Warframe. Ability output can be affected by stats and mods, as described in the Warframe abilities reference. Damage types also interact with enemy vulnerabilities and resistances; the damage and damage type modifier references explain why a result against one target may not carry over to another.

Some encounters also limit effective damage. Digital Extremes discusses damage attenuation and a maximum damage-per-second cap, including a squad-wide element, in its Update 40 notes and Dev Workshop. A test against a target with those mechanics may therefore produce a different result from an unrestricted damage calculation.
What the ability-combo change does—and does not—show
Digital Extremes’ Update 38.5: Techrot Encore increased the Ability Combo Counter cap from 4x to 12x; its notes say subsequent casts can be buffed up to 12x damage under that system. This is a specific ability mechanic, not a comparison of every Warframe, and it does not establish an overall damage leader.

How to make a fair Warframe damage comparison
A useful test should hold the conditions steady and report separate results for single-hit damage, sustained damage, and time to kill where relevant. At minimum, specify:
- Game version and the Warframe, ability, and weapon being tested.
- Mods, buffs, and any setup steps allowed before the attack.
- Enemy type and level, plus mission conditions that affect the target.
- The damage metric and measurement period.
- Whether the target has damage attenuation, caps, or other relevant modifiers.
The available official update notes and mechanics references explain factors that affect damage, but they do not provide a current, controlled ranking across all Warframes. Naming one as the universal highest-damage frame would go beyond what those sources establish.
