White Defender is the dream form of Dung Defender in Hollow Knight. It is a stronger version of the character, tied to his memories of Hallownest’s golden past, and it is not a separate game. To reach it, defeat all three Dreamers, find the sleeping Dung Defender in his hidden cave, and use the Dream Nail on him to enter his dream.
What White Defender is
White Defender is an encounter inside Hollow Knight, not a standalone release or expansion. It belongs to Dung Defender, the character you can fight in the base game, and represents a dream version of him. The community-maintained wiki describes it as a stronger form of Dung Defender drawn from the bug kingdom’s golden past, so the fight is both a harder battle and a window into who he was before Hallownest fell.
If you are looking for the title as a separate product, there is none. Players reach White Defender by playing the Hollow Knight game itself.
How to unlock White Defender
Access is gated by progress, and the steps must be completed in order. The wiki states that all three Dreamers must be defeated before this encounter becomes accessible.

- Use the Dream Nail on him. Striking the sleeping Dung Defender with the Dream Nail transports you into his dream, where White Defender waits.
If you cannot find him, first confirm that all three Dreamers are defeated. Without that prerequisite, the cave encounter will not progress to the dream version.

The available sources confirm that White Defender is stronger than the standard fight and explain how to reach it. They do not provide attack patterns, health figures, damage values, recommended loadouts or a tested strategy, so this article does not offer them. Treat any tactics you find elsewhere as unverified unless they come from a source that tests the fight directly.
Do not confuse it with WhiteDefender software
WhiteDefender is also the name of an anti-ransomware product. The official WhiteDefender product page categorizes the software as anti-ransomware and lists PC and server variants. It has no connection to the Hollow Knight boss. If your search was for file protection software, this guide does not apply.

The limits of the evidence
The access steps and combat characterization come from a community-maintained game wiki, not from the developer. The wiki’s publication date was not established, so check it against the version of the game you are playing. This article does not confirm platform-specific differences or edition variations, and it does not verify that the steps are unchanged in later patches.
