In a March 28, 2024 report, Thurrott said leaked pictures showed a white Xbox Series X-style console without a disc drive on its front. The report credited the images to eXputer and said The Verge’s Tom Warren had confirmed their legitimacy on X. That was reporting about a leak, not a Microsoft product announcement; it does not establish whether this model later launched or what it would cost today.
What the white Xbox Series X leak reportedly showed
Laurent Giret’s Thurrott report described a console resembling the then-current Xbox Series X, but with a white finish and no front disc drive. The pictures were attributed to eXputer, which had reportedly published them the day before. Thurrott relayed Tom Warren’s confirmation on X; the report does not amount to independent authentication here.
The pictured console was not described as a smaller redesign. Thurrott said it did not appear slimmer than the existing Series X, distinguishing it from the smaller Xbox Series S.
What eXputer reportedly expected—and what remained rumor
According to Thurrott’s account of eXputer’s report, the white digital Xbox Series X was expected to ship in summer 2024. The report also said a few components might be upgraded, including an improved heatsink. These were expectations, not a confirmed release schedule or final hardware specifications.

Thurrott also relayed eXputer’s estimate that the console could cost $50 to $100 less than the disc-equipped Series X. That was a historical price rumor reported in March 2024—not a verified retail price or confirmed saving.
The white console was not the Brooklin roadmap design
Thurrott treated the white console leak as separate from “Brooklin,” a cylindrical, disc-less redesign shown in Microsoft roadmap material inadvertently published during the FTC v. Microsoft trial. The roadmap proposed 2TB of storage, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, a 6nm chip, and a redesigned “Sebile” controller. Those proposed Brooklin details were not established specifications for the white console, nor proof that Brooklin reached retail.

Is there a disc-less Xbox Series X?
The March 2024 article documented a reported leak of pictures, not a confirmed Microsoft release. It does not establish whether the pictured white model ultimately launched, its final specifications, current price, or regional availability. Treat later claims about those points as requiring separate confirmation rather than inferring them from eXputer’s 2024 expectations.
