Who owns Activision Blizzard now?
Microsoft is the parent company. In an October 16, 2023 announcement, Microsoft and Activision Blizzard described the legal structure as “Activision Blizzard surviving the Merger as a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft.” Microsoft’s October 27 announcement likewise called it a wholly owned subsidiary.
That means Microsoft owns the company outright through its subsidiary structure. Activision Blizzard is not a separate, independent public company after the merger.
When did Microsoft complete the acquisition?
Microsoft says the acquisition closed on October 13, 2023. Its 2025 annual report says Activision Blizzard’s financial results have been consolidated into Microsoft’s results since the acquisition date.

How much did Microsoft pay?
The figures vary because they refer to different stages and accounting contexts. Microsoft’s 2025 annual report reports a completed-acquisition total purchase price of $75.4 billion, consisting primarily of cash. The earlier $68.7 billion figure includes Activision Blizzard’s net cash and describes the announced agreement, not the later reported total purchase price.

How does Activision Blizzard fit into Microsoft?
Microsoft reports Activision Blizzard within its More Personal Computing segment and consolidates the company’s financial results. The subsidiary relationship is the clearest way to describe the ownership: Microsoft is the parent, and Activision Blizzard remains a wholly owned subsidiary.
