“Lakad Matatag! Normalin, Normalin” is associated with Filipino Dota 2 shoutcasters Lon Marcelo and Aldrin “Dunoo” Pangan. They made the call during their cast of Fnatic versus Team Secret at ESL One Katowice 2018; it later became a familiar Dota 2 voice line and a lasting part of Dunoo’s legacy.
Who said “Lakad Matatag” in Dota 2?
The phrase is associated with Lon and Dunoo’s joint Filipino-language cast of Fnatic versus Team Secret at ESL One Katowice 2018. It was not just a line from a game: it came from the duo’s animated, conversational approach to casting. ONE Esports Philippines reported the match attribution and the line’s later place in Dota 2.

How Lon and Dunoo became a casting duo
Lon’s path into esports casting
Lon Marcelo had casting experience at Mineski before he paired with Aldrin “Dunoo” Pangan. A retrospective by The Game describes their style as energetic and accessible. Marcelo said they wanted to reach viewers even if those viewers did not already know Dota, a goal that helps explain why their calls could resonate beyond the game’s most technical audience.
A shared voice for Filipino Dota
Their partnership gave Filipino-language Dota 2 broadcasts a lively, emotionally direct sound. “Lakad Matatag” became the best-known example, but its significance rests partly on the pairing behind it: Lon and Dunoo turned match commentary into a performance that fans could remember and repeat.

From broadcast call to Dota 2 voice line
The phrase moved from the 2018 broadcast into the game’s wider culture. ONE Esports reported that it appeared in the TI2018 Battle Pass and later became a Dota 2 voice feature. That is a record of past releases, not confirmation that the line is currently available to every player; access rules and in-game availability can change.
Its reach extended outside the Filipino casting scene. After a TI10 match, OG captain Johan “N0tail” Sundstein was asked about the best voice chats and answered, “Out of all times which is the best? I would have to do the Lakad Matatag and the Kookaburra laugh,” as reported by ONE Esports Philippines. His answer is one clear sign that the call had become recognizable among international Dota figures.

Lon later continued his partner’s legacy through SIBOL, the Philippines’ national esports program. Philstar.com reported on Lon’s gratitude for carrying that work forward. In that context, “Lakad Matatag” endures as more than a popular voice line: it recalls a partnership, a distinct Filipino casting style, and a community that continued to honor Dunoo.
