There is no objectively best wife for male Corrin in Fire Emblem Fates. If your priority is giving him two children, marry Azura; if you care more about a character’s support story, roleplay, or class access, choose among the characters available on your route. Niles is also a possible same-gender S-support, but that choice has a child-unit tradeoff.
Best spouse by player priority
| Your priority | Recommendation | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Give male Corrin two children | Azura | Thonky’s marriage and children walkthrough identifies Azura as the only spouse who gives male Corrin two children. |
| Pick for a support story or roleplay | The eligible character you like most | No source establishes a factual ranking of support pairings. Confirm the character is available on your route. |
| Plan around class access | Compare the spouse’s primary class with your needs | Marriage can enable access to a spouse’s class through the Partner Seal; details are described in the Serenes Forest support reference. |
| Choose a same-gender S-support | Niles | Male Corrin can S-support Niles, but Thonky says marrying him prevents recruiting Kana and Nina. |
Why route matters
The available spouse roster depends on the route. Nintendo’s Birthright or Conquest overview says Birthright and Conquest each have 17 characters unavailable in the other route, and describes Revelation as the third route. It recommends Birthright to newcomers; Conquest is more difficult, with limited experience and gold and more demanding map design. So there is no single roster-independent answer to whom Corrin should marry.

Child-unit totals also differ by route. Thonky’s walkthrough reports up to 13 child units in Birthright and Conquest, and all 21 in Revelation. These are route totals, not a guarantee that any particular marriage adds the same children in each campaign. For male Corrin’s specific outcome, the key exception is Azura: she is the only spouse who gives him two children. Niles is the opposite kind of consequential choice, since the walkthrough says that marriage prevents Kana and Nina from being recruited.
How marriage affects gameplay
Children and recruitment
Nintendo’s developer interview explains that the avatar can marry unit members and that relationships affect children’s abilities. For Corrin, spouse choice can therefore affect both who becomes available and the children’s inherited traits. The Azura and Niles outcomes are the clearest specific tradeoffs established by the walkthrough; do not assume every pairing changes the roster in the same way.

Class access
In Nintendo’s interview with game developer Maeda, he says, “A character can take on the class of their spouse.” Serenes Forest’s support reference describes the Partner Seal as a way to access a spouse’s primary class. If you are choosing for a build, compare that class access with the classes Corrin already has and the role you want him to fill.
