Hilda: the most favorable outcome
Hilda’s route is the one most guides present as the best resolution. Walkthroughs report that she confronts Albert, who then stops pretending to beg. The reward is three Onyx. Some guides also list 900 XP, but others do not mention XP for this route, so treat the XP figure as reported rather than confirmed for every version.
Choose Hilda if your priority is the story outcome rather than the reward. The benefit is a change in Albert’s behavior, not an extra item or gold.

Albert: the gold option
Returning the garb to Albert is the simplest and most lucrative of the non-tragic choices in terms of gold. Guides report 5,000 gold, the largest gold payment of the three. Albert then continues his double life, so the outcome is neutral: nothing changes for him or for the people he deceives.
This route suits players who want the gold early or who prefer the quest to end without a dramatic consequence.

Celina: the tragic route
Giving the garb to Celina produces the bleakest ending. Sources report that Celina kills Albert and then herself. The reward is 3,000 gold, one Noonbloom, and 900 XP. The Noonbloom is the only item in this comparison that is not gold or Onyx, so this route is the one to pick if you want that flower.
Players who want to see the full range of the quest’s outcomes should consider this route, though it is the only option that ends with both characters dead.

How to reach the garb
The quest starts in Vernworth’s Merchant’s Quarter. You collect the garb by following Albert, then entering his house after he has left. Guides differ on how long to wait and on how they describe quest markers, so watch Albert’s movements rather than relying on a fixed timer.
- Begin A Beggar’s Tale in Vernworth’s Merchant’s Quarter and follow Albert.
- Track him to Walter’s Tavern in the Slums.
- Follow him from the tavern to his house in the Common Quarter.
- Wait until Albert leaves the house, then enter and collect the Beggar’s Garb.
- Take the garb to one of the three recipients: Hilda at Baldwin’s Estate, Celina at Walter’s Tavern, or Albert outside his house.

Choosing between the options
- Want the best reported outcome: Hilda.
- Want the most gold immediately: Albert, 5,000 gold.
- Want the Noonbloom or the tragic ending: Celina, which also pays 3,000 gold and 900 XP.
The sources do not establish a single optimal choice for every player. “Best” here reflects the consequences guides describe, and your own priorities, such as gold, a specific item, or a particular story ending, should decide it.

The walkthroughs agree on the three recipients and on the main outcome of each route. They differ on the timing of Albert’s departure, on how quest markers are described, and on whether Hilda’s route grants 900 XP.
