A PS5 emulator that runs slowly or will not boot may be hitting a game-compatibility or emulator limitation, not a problem that faster PC hardware can fix. The right troubleshooting steps depend on the emulator and version; the requirements below apply specifically to KytyPS5, not every PS5 emulator.
Why a PS5 emulator may run slowly or fail to boot
Emulator behavior can vary by game and version. KytyPS5 says compatibility, stability, and performance differ between versions, and identifies expanding compatibility and improving boot reliability as development priorities. A failed launch, crash, graphical glitch, or low frame rate therefore does not by itself identify a fixable fault with your computer.
The KytyPS5 repository cautions: “Expect crashes, graphical glitches, low compatibility, and poor performance.” That warning describes the project; it should not be treated as a statement about every emulator or every game.
Check whether your game and emulator version are supported
Start with the exact game and exact KytyPS5 version you are using. Consult the project’s repository and compatibility information, since results are game- and version-specific. Record the version or build and whether the game stops immediately, reaches a menu, or fails later. Those observations help describe the issue, but the available compatibility guidance does not establish a universal cause for each symptom.

Verify KytyPS5’s documented host requirements
KytyPS5 documents 64-bit x86 systems, or Apple Silicon Macs running Rosetta 2, and a GPU capable of Vulkan 1.3. Its listed host platforms include Windows 10 version 1803, a current Linux distribution, or macOS on Apple Silicon. These are KytyPS5-specific requirements, not universal requirements for all PS5 emulators.
A graphics card that supports Vulkan 1.3 meets an API prerequisite; that alone does not establish that a particular game will boot or perform well. If your GPU does not support Vulkan 1.3, a compatible graphics card is the relevant hardware requirement to address, but buying one is not a guaranteed fix for game compatibility or speed.

For graphical problems, update the graphics driver
If the game displays rendering problems, check for and install a current driver for your GPU. KytyPS5’s repository specifically advises updating the graphics driver before reporting rendering issues. If the problem persists, note the driver and GPU details alongside the game and emulator version.

- Record the setup: note the KytyPS5 version or build, operating system, GPU, and graphics-driver version.
- Describe the exact game and result: include where the problem occurs, such as immediate launch failure, a crash before the menu, or a failure later in play.
- Search existing issues: check the project’s issue tracker for the same game or symptom before opening a new report.
- Use the project’s Game Emulation Bug Report template: provide the requested details and attach the complete log file, not just a short excerpt.
Submitting a reproducible report with the version, host details, observed failure stage, and full log gives the project useful information to investigate. It does not guarantee a workaround or a particular compatibility outcome.
