Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf you’re not leveling up in Fortnite, first check which progress bar is stuck: your seasonal Battle Pass level, your cumulative Account Level, or a Save the World character upgrade. Then confirm the season is active, the activity awards XP, and any quest is complete. Fortnite XP can come from quests, match play, Kickstart quests, and eligible Creative play, but Creative XP has a daily cap.
First, identify which level is not changing
Fortnite has different progression tracks that can look like “leveling up,” but they do not work the same way.

| Progress track | What it measures | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Battle Pass level | Progress on the current season’s pass. | Whether that season is still active. Epic says XP progression for a season’s Battle Pass is unavailable after the season ends. Epic’s end-of-season XP guidance. |
| Account Level | The combined levels gained across Fortnite seasons. | Do not treat it as the level of your current Battle Pass. Epic’s Account Level explanation. |
| Save the World hero, survivor, or defender | A separate character upgrade track with its own requirements. | Check the character’s upgrade and evolution requirements in Save the World. Epic says Hero XP and Survivor XP were combined into People XP as of v40.00. Epic’s Save the World upgrade guidance. |
Check whether your activity awards XP
Epic lists Daily, Weekly, and Seasonal quests, match play, Kickstart quests, and eligible Creative maps as XP sources. Its overview says XP from Fortnite experiences advances all active passes simultaneously. Match XP can come from play over time, including survival, eliminations, and in-match objectives. Eligible Creative play has a daily cap, but Epic’s public overview does not state the cap’s current numerical value. See How to earn XP in Fortnite.
Check quest completion and displayed rewards
Quests are described by Epic as the fastest XP source in its overview. Open your Quests tab and check the quest’s state and displayed reward; having a quest available is not the same as having completed it. For Battle Royale Daily quest reset timing, select Quests, choose Battle Royale, then check the Daily tile. Epic directs players to that in-game tile for the account’s current reset time. Epic’s Daily Quest reset guidance.

Look for Supercharged XP, but don’t expect it to last indefinitely
Supercharged XP is a temporary catch-up mechanic tied to missed Daily or Weekly quest XP. Epic says it ends after that missed XP has been made up. While it is active, XP notifications appear orange instead of purple, and a lightning-bolt icon appears next to the XP bar. It is not a permanent multiplier. Epic also notes periodic Double XP events and a Victory Crown bonus, but neither is a guaranteed, always-available source of extra XP. See Epic’s Supercharged XP explanation.
For Save the World, check the upgrade gate
If you mean a hero rather than a Battle Pass, inspect that hero’s upgrade screen. Epic says a hero must evolve after reaching level 10 before it can level up again; evolution may depend on further Save the World progression. Save the World also uses its own character upgrade system, including People XP, the combined Hero and Survivor XP system as of v40.00. The requirements are not the same as earning general Fortnite XP.

If the XP bar still does not move
Epic’s public guidance does not show an individual account’s XP history or diagnose whether a specific account has a bug. Capture the details of what you observed before contacting Epic Support:
- The progress track that appears stuck and the season, if it is a Battle Pass.
- The mode and activity or quest you completed, plus the XP reward shown in game.
- The XP bar before and after the activity, if possible.
- Your platform and the approximate time the activity happened.
These details help distinguish a season that has ended, a quest that has not been completed, and a case where XP appeared to be awarded but the displayed progress did not change. Public guidance does not establish the exact XP change for every match or mode.
