Each points to a different fix. Start with the profile and compatibility checks, then check content-management settings, the Minecraft modding folder, or the project’s release type as appropriate.
Find out what is missing
In the CurseForge app, open the Minecraft profile where you expect the mod and check its Installed Mods list. If the mod is missing there, troubleshoot that profile. If the entire profile or modpack is missing from the app, check the Minecraft modding folder. If Minecraft itself is absent from CurseForge, use the app’s game-scan or manual-add workflow. If a project is missing only from app search, check its file type.
If a mod is missing from a profile
Select the intended profile
Profiles are separate app-managed Minecraft environments, so installing a mod in one does not make it appear in another. Use CurseForge’s install flow to choose the intended existing profile, or use Add More Content from that profile. CurseForge explains that “Each mod file and each profile are set to run on a specific Minecraft version.” CurseForge Support’s installation guide was modified August 19, 2025.
Match Minecraft version and modloader
Check the target profile’s Minecraft version and loader, then confirm that the mod file supports both. Forge, Fabric, NeoForge, and Quilt are distinct loaders; a project available for one is not necessarily available for another. CurseForge’s guides explain installing mods and modpacks and the available Minecraft modding platforms. If either the Minecraft version or loader differs, choose a compatible file or use a profile configured for the mod’s supported setup.

Enable content management for a modpack
If the modpack profile has no Add More Content option, open the profile’s three-dot menu, select Profile Options, turn on Allow content management for this profile, and save. This setting allows you to add or toggle installed mods. It also disables pack updates while enabled; if you later disable management and update the pack, custom changes may be overwritten. See CurseForge’s modpack content-management instructions.
If a profile or modpack is missing from the app
Check which Minecraft modding folder CurseForge is using: open the app’s settings, select Minecraft, and inspect or open the Minecraft Modding Folder. CurseForge manages Minecraft profiles in its own environment, so content in another location may not appear in the app. Its guidance identifies the vanilla .minecraft directory and OneDrive subfolders as unsupported locations for this setup. For a move between devices, CurseForge’s migration instructions use the Instances directory: move it into the configured modding folder as directed. See Minecraft troubleshooting and the modding-folder guide.
If Minecraft itself is missing from CurseForge
Use the app’s game scan. If automatic detection does not find Minecraft, manually browse to the game’s installation directory and add it. The workflow is covered in CurseForge’s app troubleshooting guide.
If a mod project is missing from search
Project visibility in app search is different from whether a mod is installed in a profile. CurseForge says Alpha files do not sync to the app by default unless the user opts in. For a new project to sync to the app, it needs an approved Release or Beta file. Check the project’s file listings and release type; an Alpha-only project may therefore be absent from app search by default. See CurseForge’s project-visibility guidance.

Still can’t find it?
Match the next step to the remaining symptom rather than changing unrelated settings. Note whether the problem is inside CurseForge or in Minecraft, the profile name, Minecraft version, loader, operating system, and the app version. If these checks do not resolve it, provide those details and the exact symptom when asking for help; the right next step depends on the setup.
